Or Robert Todd Lincoln.
He was in close proximity to three Presidential assassinations - his father’s, Garfield’s, and McKinley’s.

Lafayette
Also appears in the TV play Valley Forge (1975), which has a classic moment when one of Washington's orderlies brings a bottle of wine to the officers dinner table, and Lafayette sneers at it: "I'm sorry Gen Lafayette, but it's the best wine we have."

A couple of the craziest Medal of Honor guys from Vietnam. I think a guy named Benvadiaz would make a great film

On the caveat that they're done right, and not outlandish to fit today's "modern audiences"...sure.

Can’t even have halfway accurate casting anymore for any white historical figures

quote:He also has a character based on him in the 1942 John Wayne film The Flying Tigers, as do other real members of the AVG, like 'Alabama Smith' who was based on Tex Hill.
Claire Chennault would be a good one.
he appears briefly in the Baa Baa Black Sheep pilot, confronting Boyington
quote:Maybe, but I do know that Chennault was not liked by top brass. He told them they were wrong and proved it, for which he was sent home before the end of the war.
Interestingly, he is portrayed rather negatively -- I presume to make Boyington look good

Hero of Two Worlds by Mike Duncan (History of Rome and Revolutions podcasts) is a great book that came out in the last year or so.
My suggestions:
Quanah Parker
Julian the Apostate
Quanah Parker would be epic.

You won't find a better two books.
The movie "The Great Sioux Massacre" shows Custer in a different light than the swashbuckling do-good who suffered a tragic death.
It stars Phillip Carey as Custer, Darren McGavin as Benton and Joseph Cotten as Reno.
It's by no means a cinema masterpiece, but probably portrays Custer more in a true light than most other movies that glorify his exploits.
In the movie, he's a self-promoting egotistic glory hound, opinionated harsh taskmaster who is very unbending in how he wants things done, even to the detriment of the men under his command.

Vlad needs a real biopic with no vampire stuff.
He is way more interesting when you remove the vampire crap. He had a crazy life and did some wild things, but he was a hero to his people.

Frederick Douglass could make for a good movie but his overall message would be corrupted with "white men bad". He was a great uniter and Hollywood doesn't want that.

recent history, but Gregory "the Grim Reaper" Scarpa is the craziest story that should be a movie I may have ever read or learned about..
from 60 Minutes/CBS
"Gregory Scarpa got AIDS.. and Gregory Scarpa used it as a license to kill"
Stallone was involved with a script, but it ended up in limbo for some reason.
