Does BK "Need" the Bama win?

BK, rightly or not, has the reputation of not being able to win the big game. I'm not talking his record against top 10 opponents. I'm talking about winning the game that matters, regardless of the ranking.

The FSU game, even though it sucked to lose, did not matter as much as the Bama game will in a couple weeks.

For example, I think the Missouri game was a game that mattered. If LSU loses that game, their hopes for a conference championship are, for all intents and purposes, finished. So, in my opinion, that was a big win for BK.

On the other side of that coin, the TAMU game last year mattered.

Of course BK isn't going to quit coaching if he loses the Bama game, but how much does he need this win?

For sure it did matter and might be the biggest win in BK's career, but it was an obvious example that I didn't feel like I needed to specifically call out.

The bama game, or for that matter any conference game, is more important than an OOC game. But to answer your question he doesn't "need" a road win at Bama

If you cannot beat BAMA you will not be at LSU very long. Does this answer your question?

I think it goes without saying that yes, BK needs the bama win. In what universe would he not?

BK would benefit from winning one of two at minimum between Bama and Aggie. I think Aggie will be in full meltdown by the time we get to them.

I also think we handle Bama if we can have the dominant OL performances we have had lately.

But he should not NEED any wins. House is the only coach that NEEDS something and he needs to continue to improve his defense.

Yes. If we lose, his seat gets very warm
In fact, not sure he survives another year if we don’t win the bama game

He walked into a championship roster so there’s really no excuse as to why it should take more than a year to win a natty

It still was a big game with playoff implications so it mattered a ton. We were #5 and about to play undefeated defending national champion #1 Georgia on the road for an SEC title. When LSU played in Atlanta last season it was supposed to be a de facto CFP quarterfinal game for us yet that A&M loss put us out of contention.

Bad, bad loss.

Yes. A third loss would mean that we don't make a NY6 bowl and so the season is a failure considering the talent we have.

It would really solidify him as a top notch coach that we thought he could be with better talent.

It was a terrible loss but I still think some of our fans don't appreciate what he did with our team that got crushed by K State 9 months earlier.

I mean 9-3 would mean we are in a bad bowl game. The Citrus Bowl won't take us again so we are looking at the lower tier ones.

We need NY6 this year for optics.

Kelly needs to beat Saban into retirement. Don't let the man go out on a high note.

Need it for what? To keep his job? No. To get to a NY6 bowl or SEC championship. Yes. BK will get another year or 2 to show consistency. After that his seat will get warm. Not yet. Now if we lose 2 of the last 3 there might be some rumblings but again he is building for the long haul and gets a couple of years to figure out both his roster and his staff.
