Man I hate that cans are so expensive. There's no damn reason for it. I wish I had one for every rifle.

I have an RC2. They are the toughest cans on the market. I had mine on my .224 Valkyrie. Like a dumbass I didn’t have it locked in one day. I pulled the trigger and an enormous amount of gas to the face. I looked at the end of my barrel and no can. I was like frick it blew up. I looked down range and it was 30 yards from my gun. No baffle strikes. Could hardly tell what happened. Been running fine since.

It's a damn threaded metal tube with baffles in it. Probably costs $80 to male.

Money is in the R&D. Surefire has to meet certain standards for military use. I would bet they have 50-75 million in R&D cost in the RC3.

How much do hearing aids cost?

I have several and will be buying more. My son doesn’t and has never hunted without one on his gun.

I haven’t in years.

Maybe, but if they have that much a huge portion is likely from grants or investors. Military grade shouldn’t apply to civilian arms. A can can be made with maybe $10 in parts.

Not really. The CGS inconel cans are tougher. The new SpecterCat cans will potentially be even tougher than the CGS cans because of how fast they vent gas and they are 3d printed inconel as well.

Read the manual that comes with your surefire. It is protocol to launch the silencer if it gets carbon locked.

as a tax payer, that's asinine when there are other options much cheaper that are probably just as good.

I did the same thing you did LSUFan1971 on a 5.56 AR15. Those gases blew back in to my eyes and I thought I was blind for a while. It took over an out for my eyes to get back to normal. I only buy direct thread now.
The issue I had was that so much carbon had built up around the locking area that it didn’t secure when I thought it had. I cleaned it up and it works great now but I’m so nervous to use it now, especially since I’ve bought other options.

Never trust the peak Db numbers a manufacturer puts out. PewScience is the only unbiased sound testing out there with actual good data.

Fine.

i don't think a double to triple price point is warranted when all 3 options are hovering over the 30 (minimal suppression) mark.

The 2 other cans I know that advertise the reduced blowback pressure certainly aren't the quitest. I'm talking larue and kac here. It appears first shot flash and gas venting are becoming as/more important than just raw decibel reduction.
