My state doesn't require a permit and I already have a CC gun and IWB holster, but I never wear it.

Reason being is that I can't bring a firearm to work, and don't want to leave it in my truck all day. When I leave the house for something other than work it's usually either grocery shopping or something outdoors which is easy enough, but usually safe.

Or im going out to restaurants/bars which are the times that I feel like I do need it as it may require me to walk somewhere unsafe. What are yalls opinions on concealed carry in this situation? I know you're technically not supposed to carry when drinking, but as long as it's concealed and youre drinking responsibly things should be fine. However if I find myself in a situation where I need to use it and I've had a few drinks is the law gonna screw me?

Some rambling thoughts.

1 - If you're at a bar and had a few drinks and the situation arises, you better make damn sure the threat is worthy of pulling it out. There is 0 room for error as the drinking will be brought up in court should it get that far.
2 - You should go the extra distance and make sure you do everything you can to avoid needing to use it.
3 - Make damn sure it is well concealed while you're at a bar.
4 - The current line for being considered "intoxicated" is .080. At least in Texas, it is illegal to carry while intoxicated. It's incredibly easy to get to a legal level of intoxication after just a couple at a bar. You're taking a decent amount of risk even though you won't necessarily be drunk.

Ultimately it’s better to be tried by 12 than to be carried by 6. I just wouldn’t go out drinking though.

Yep maybe I just need to find better bars. I'm not worried about needing it once I'm in a bar. It's the undesirables hanging around outside

In Alabama our license used to say it was not valid in locations that served alcohol. I think this was a rule our prior county sheriff had (he issues permits).

We no longer have to have a license to carry so I am unsure if that is still true. I still have a cc permit (incase I go to MS or FL where they honor it) and it does not say anything about it now...

I don’t drink much anymore. In LA it’s a big No no to CCW in a bar. I would never put myself in a situation where I was in an area where I thought I might need it and be drinking. That’s a recipe for legal problems.

Find a better establishment or stay home and sauce up.

I know plenty of people ignore the law here, if you are truly responsible then I don't worry about it.

If you wouldn’t go somewhere without it, you shouldn’t go there with or because of it.

It’s a tool to be used in case of emergency. It’s not a sword, shield, or excuse.

Get some pepper spray. You will have alot of explaining to do if you walk out of a bar and shoot someone.

In my younger years, I had a lot less to lose. I also visited a lot more sketchy places. Now, I've got a lot to lose with career and family. As a straight, white, gun-toting conservative male... the jury of 12 thing concerns me. Being in BTR/EBR, my peers are never the ones next to me when I serve jury duty.

FWIW - When I used to CC out for drinks, I was very concerned about being printing/being made. I ankle carried a single stack 9 as a way to have something, but literally fool proof conceal. I actually trained quite a bit with it, even running.

This.

If I'm going to carry I'm not going to drink. Period. Alcohol affects your decision making even in small amounts.
If I feel like I need a firearm to be somewhere then I shouldn't be there regardless.

Every one has their reasons, but why?

All of my vehicles have guns in them that stay in that vehicle at all times, unless I take it out to CC and put it back when I get into the vehicle.

As far as work F'em. I worked for woke arse UAB in downtown Bham for 5 1/2 years. First month I was there, a gun was in my lunch box and was in the fridge until they moved me to closer less sketchy parking deck. During Covid with all the BLM BS going on, there were reports of some crap being organized downtown. I was getting to work at 4:30 am during all that. Again, gun in my lunch bag and stayed in my locker while I was at work.

As previously stated, I would rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6.
