Initially, maybe. But pendulums swing two ways. I think it creates an opportunity for another program or two to really step up and climb in prestige.

We literally just saw a 1 loss Big 12 team, who didn't even win the conference, in the playoffs.

Saban was able to beg his way into the playoffs twice. You don't think Prime is going to be able to so that with the media coverage he is getting.

And since some of you can't read, Colorado is about to beat up on a lot of bad teams in the Big 12 and get tons of media coverage for it just like USC did in the 2000s. I mean Reggie Bush's Heisman moment was against Fresno State

Prime will have one year where he has to go undefeated at Colorado to get in… and then when he doesn’t he’ll see the writing on the wall and run to the SEC

ACC is clearly #3 especially when you factor in notre dame which plays a defacto ACC schedule

Without Texas and Oklahoma, the Big 12 (in football) is a meaningless shitpile of mids.

They should change the name to The Big Mid.

Definitely not a ‘power conference’ ever again after 2023.

You’d be a 9-3 team here, and probably have an offense.

Some degree.

The top two remaining teams in terms of viewership are TCU and Okie Lite, who benefit from DFW and Oklahoma. The rest of the conference is a “Who’s Hot?” Utah will come in hot, Colorado will be hot if they reestablish themselves. The AZ schools are awful now, but one could get good again. The New 4 are the best that were available at the time, there’s almost nobody left.

The real deal is, that the conference average without OUT (with CO and AZ as dogshit) is still higher than the ACC’s, especially if FSU and Clemson leave.

Oh Jesus Christ. So you are saying Colorado is gonna win like 30 games in a row and win a national championship within 3 years? I'll take that bet and put a real 10 grand on it.

I think they still add Houston and Cincy. They probably UXF is tricky. It gets you into Florida, but they are on an island

Cincy will also give UWV a reasonably close (proximity)game compared to the other Big12 schools.

I have a friend that is a legit Big Cigar Baylor alum/donor. He told me under no uncertain terms that if my kids want a full ride, it will happen at his word. I’m not saying this in terms of of “I’m elite with this buddy.” I’m not. I just happened to go to church with the guy and our kids get along. His kids go to school with Arranda and Drew. Great baw and super down to earth for being a millionaire.

This weekend we went to his weekly tailgate and went and sat in his Baylor Club seats for the game. I’m a low six figure guy so it was bit of a weird experience. I do well but that is outside of my comfort zone.

He says that the Big XII is entirely dependent on becoming a basketball conference like the Big East was most of it’s existence. He and his group are willing to drop giant bank for NIL 5* basketball recruits and DGAF about football at this point. Big 12 is selling on basketball with football for fun.

I say this every time this thread pops up, but the fact they won't have to deal with Texas and their drama anymore (who hasn't even been a Championship contender in almost 20 years) is almost a net positive.

Plus, they're gonna have the premier basketball conference with the most tourney selections pretty much every year with help stabilize them going forward.

Utah is going to run shite as long as they have Kyle Whittingham around.
