I question if the long term unemployed are really that interested in getting jobs

Searching for jobs sucks but if you can't land a job in 27 or more weeks in this economy you aren't trying very hard IMO

same shite under obama. let's ignore the labor participation rate and use the fake unemployment rate.

and a ton of these so called new jobs were government jobs and part time.

Put a bunch of people on the public payroll. So . . . we're paying the freight.

There's a distinct DGAF attitude about work held by a portion of the population that has ballooned since our insane response to Covid.

The BLS data geeks don’t care who the president is when crunching numbers.

I'm curious how many of those jobs have been replaced by Generative AI.

CPI vs the Big Mac Index begs to differ (indicating that someone responsible for the reporting cares). Going by it from 2000 until now shows inflation running an average of ~2x higher than what BLS reports.

Don’t forget all the fine citizens that are now employed and prospering financially through diligent looting and selling the stolen property online. They love Bidenomics.

Looks like it's been going up every year since falling off a cliff during the Trump administration.

Every administration uses this figure

This isn't just an Obama Biden thing and you're a dishonest moron for even suggesting it

Yet if Trump had done the same thing, you'd be praising his graces.

*sigh* I hate what politics has done to this country.

My favorite trick on the unemployment numbers game is that long term unemployed number, at some point they just stop counting them, and it skews the numbers lower so that the government can boast the unemployment rate is lower. All the while more and more are just sucking off the government teet.

I think about the tech bubble where Facebook, Amazon, Google, et al had tens of thousands of extra employees each, and then the hundreds of other companies that had hundreds to thousands of extra employees.

I work in the tech space and I was always baffled at how these talentless people got lofty and high paying positions. Most of those people got laid off, and because they were falsely elevated into a high paying cushy position that is still their expectation and they haven't accepted that they are qualified to make 45k working at a relatively entry level position otherwise.
