you cry about running the ball and Reggie Bush not being able to run up the field.. and you want to get rid of the coach and bush because of both..

Idiots, have you ever considered that maybe the problem is not with them??

OUR OFFENSIVE LINE CANNOT BLOCK!!!

how do you expect bush to run up the field when every time he touches the ball, the D line is 2 yards into the backfield??

People would rather call for the coaches head than give him a chance to fix the problem in the offseason

our OL seems to magically get better when pierre thomas is carrying the ball instead of reggie

maybe it's a rohan/booty situation

I do agree that our line, most notibly the tackles are the problem. Move Jamaal Brown back to Right Tackle and draft a Left Tackle. Our only other areas of need are Safety and Linebacker and both can be solved through free agency without breaking the bank.

We lost four games by a total of 13 points.....those could have just as easily been wins for us. We do not need to make these whole-sale changes everyone keeps bitching about. Yesterday, the fourth down call was horrible, not the going for it part, but the call itself was horrible and IMHO, set the tone for the rest of the game. We had a ton of drops, Drew was a little off and seemed intent on force-feeding Colston the ball which is uncharacteristic of him. Reggie was obviously rusty as well as obviously oblivious to the wet field conditions as he tried to reverse field everytime he touched the ball. As far as our running game goes, I think we are fine running the ball.....when we run it. Payton needs to balalnce the offense out more by calling more running plays....but when Thomas, or Deuce, run the ball, we get good yardage. I would like to see our yards per run without Reggie's carries.....I bet it would be decent.

I agree with you. Calling for SP's head is ridiculous. He is a young coach and hopefully he will keep learning. If we are in the NFC North or West SP's a great coach and we are winning the division. We need work on defense (even though they played awesome yesterday) and I don't like our 4th qtr. record, but I think we still stick with him.

not only thomas. look at stecker at the end of last year. even deuce was better in 2006.

this is what pt brings to the table when bush is out
3 games started
93.3 rushing yards per game
5.5 ypc

70.3 receiving yards per game
11.1 ypr

1.3 tds per game.

stecker
3 games started

82.6 rushing yards per game
4.4 ypc

28 yards receiving per game
7 ypr

1.3 tds per game

bush 20 starts

43.75 rushing yards per game
3.5 ypc

40.75 yards receiving per game
7.76 ypr

.55 tds per game

why is it that the other two backs do remarkably better in the offense while bush struggles? thomas fills bush's role better than bush!

We just need Sean to keep learning as a defensive coach and Brees can only get better. we should just permanently move Reggie to reciever/punt returner and get it over with.

Reggie's game isn't running the ball behind his O-line. Swing passes and screens are his game.
The reason you think we can run block is we throw teams off when we throw someone in there that can pound it between the tackles and we gain some yards.
As soon as teams adapt to our new runner, we will get smashed again. Our Center and Tackles can't run block to save their lives. We need big athletic lineman to push guys off the line. We need to inject some ATHLETICISM to your Oline!

His runs are attacked differently by the D. I'm not quite sure what it is, but when he runs, the D is in the backfield before Reggie even gets close to the line

Payton calls different run plays for Bush. I hate the toss sweep especially to the short side of the field in the NFL

But we still can't reliably get 1 foot when we need it. Does the line only work on pass blocking in practice? Everyone who ripped Karma last year for calling this line serviceable needs to apologize to him.

The running game was significantly better when Bush was nursing his "injury".
I've never seen a player run to the sidelines instead of FORWARD like the scaredycat Bush.

I DO think that Reggie is approached differently by defenses. When he is in the backfield, I think defenses attack a little differently.....like more intensely. It may sound a little juvenile cuz I'm sure defenses (players) play hard on most every down, but when you have a chance to stop a guy who comes with as much hype as Bush does, they get a little more fired up, meaning Bush would need to be that much better.

And we aren't using him like his rookie year. I hardly ever hear the word decoy anymore. 2 back sets and you don't know if it's going to be up the middle with Thomas/Deuce, in the flat to Reggie, over the middle to Colston, or down the sideline to Devery. Brees is great, but unless we win homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, a gameplan designed exclusively around Brees throwing is likely to fail. He can do just about everything but control the weather.

+ 100

Bush always gets the shitty off tackle runs while PT gets the quick hits up the gut.
