Desantis should have waited but now it seems he has blown the opportunity running in 2024 and aligning with the Bush supporters.

There is no telling what will happen to the GOP electorate in 2028.

If Trump loses, nobody knows what will happen to his core supporters. It's hard to see them going back to voting Democrat given the shifts on the left, but I suppose some will. Some will look for Trump alternatives, some will return to non-voting/apathy.

If Trump wins, I assume his core will generally go wherever he points in 2028. Which could be good, but it could be disastrous (Oz, Lake, Walker.)

LOL. Why? because a bunch of mile-wide-inch-deep trump cultists are going to sit and fume for four years because DeSantis ran against the orange buffoon?

The "aligning with bush supportrs" is just garbage cultists say so they can avoid comparing policy and hate DeSantis like dear leader says.

Trump has Bush people all over his campaign, DeSantis only has them in your mind. It's like how Trump was the last politician to employ Karl Rove just is completely memory holed by Trumpsters.

Oh, and if Trump is the nominee and loses DeSantis is going to be the heavy favorite for '28. He will be able to go back to Florida and continue to kick arse while the Democrats keep burning the country down and there will be a huge Trump backlash. He is still by far the most qualified and effective politician in the GOP and all he does is deliver on policy.

This race also is really just beginning as much as Trump wants it to be over. The true base for Trump is 20-25% and the anti Trump base is about 30-35%. Everything in the middle can still move. Trump is in the driver's seat but we are still 4 months from anyone voting.

Youngkin is basically somewhere between Tim Scott and DeSantis. He's not a fighter, he actually won by being the nice guy adult. He's pretty conservative but not as much as DeSantis.

Now if Trump wins in '24 who knows what the landscape is in '28. That's way too many variables to do anything but wildly speculate. Trump has no real shot though so that's kind of a moot point, he has thrown away AZ and GA and he can't win without them.

Why shouldn't we expect the dems to steal another one from Trump? We might be voting for him a 4th time in 28?

I really thought you had some basic common sense.

You fell for the media spin that Lake is BAD. It is no different than Quayle couldn't spell so he was done.

The media apparatus stepped up the promulgation that Lake is nuts or fringe, just like ya'll did to Bachmann a tax attorney.

Obama's main man Axelrod, said Lake was who the dems feared up and coming.

You neocons would diss Mastriano and Erik Prince as well. The neocons just lost their Bushy power trip in Tx.

You are done put a fork in yourself; and get your arse out of circa 2004 where people fell for your horse shite politics. Fake fiscal conservativism, canned talking point promises for 50 years now and neoconism is out.

Here is an easy foregoing tip. No one cares what the establishment snobs think anymore. No one buys into the fake wars and canned Bushy/Romney like speches anymore.

Thank God the Bushy neocons are the minority...

So truly excuse me while I don't care what your opinion is anymore than I care what Paul Ryan or Mitt Romney thinks.

If Dems win 2024, the country is finished. Very few choices left at that point.

If he bends the knee.

If he goes to the convention and tells people to "vote their conscience" like Ted Cruz, you can just bury him.

I suspect Desantis will dress his kids in MAGA gear again and give a full throated endorsement of Trump.

RonBots will melt like an August snowball.

Don't disagree, that's why I keep bothering to argue with the Trump folks here that still act like this is like rooting for your team in college football or have some fantasy that having it all burn down will be awesome.

Possibly, but people's attention spans are so short that I think they'll have forgotten 2024 by then.

I'm not really concerned about the unhinged rantings of center-left pro-choice advocates, so I think we're in a good place.

Yep. Donor class dropping damaged goods DeSantis and going all in on Younkin.

Several people here will have a difficult time accepting this.
