Less cars in the FQ would make the FQ better for almost everyone.

You don't have any stake in the game, then. But as is typical, you know what is best for others. In places you rarely go.

Car free zones are much nicer areas so this is a valid idea.

Until you have to walk to your car 8 miles away while getting shot at

Give them permits that allows them to drive/park in the quarter. This is what other urban historic areas do.

What skin do you have in the game?

My skin in the game is that I actually live in Orleans Parish, work in Orleans Parish, have investments in Orleans Parish very near the FQ, and I want what is best for the City and TaxPayers.

Do they have sensors where a gate will lift when they approach to give them access to the street?

Like a parking lot? Parking garage? Yes, those are all over FQ. Warehouse District and CBD

Great. The next step is to prohibit cars that don't have the permit.

I doubt this issue hits New Orleans's top 20 priorities but it would be nice in a perfect world.

Fair enough, how about enforcing curfews on the underage thugs, and closing down the strip clubs and limiting the number of souvenir shops

Maybe even setting an age limit after a certain time unless accompanied by an adult and/or if you live or staying at a hotel.

Maybe not the entire quarter but at least Bourbon St and the streets around Bourbon.

Funny y’all think this is a great idea considering LaToya wanted to do this and got shouted down by people who actually live and work there.

FQ is a neighborhood not a shopping mall

These proposals are almost all met with very vocal opposition at first. I still think the benefits outweigh the detriments.

Kind of a non sequitur, but OK.

This is valid but people do live there. It would be very easy to creat a resident or owner pass for cars. It would also be fine just shutting down a few streets to cars. Probably be smart as hell.

One of the great moments in Teedy history. Said she had all this backing and it turned out they asked about 10 people. Half were not residents of the FQ.

Hell of time for that picture.

I’d love to see cars significantly restricted in the Quarter. Residential tags only. Deliveries restricted to specific days and times. Uber/cabs drop off and pick up on the perimeter. I’m always a bit amazed by the people who sit in their cab inching through the quarter rather than just walking.

If I was emperor, I’d take the hard rock hotel lot at canal and rampart and turn that into a delivery distribution center. Large 18 wheelers unload for delivery by smaller fleet vehicles, and 18 wheelers just don’t enter the quarter.

And there are indeed many models for this across the world.
