we are seeing the future right before our eyes. the 2 texas schools are going to spend like a drunken soldier. we are not going to be able to beat both of them. simmons has probably told teammates how much he is getting and they all are headed to the bank (utrans) to get as much as they can.

Ok but neither schools are actual contenders so who cares.

Rather they go to a school who can’t accomplish anything with them than a program like Bama that could dominate with them.

I refuse to believe we can’t match on at least some of these guys. I understand worrying about the locker room but it’s a bit demoralizing.

We have competitive offers out in NIL for high level recruits. We just can't match Texas, A&M, Oregon, USCw etc if they really want a recruit. Colin Simmons wanted to be at LSU, the money was just too much to pass up. Booster involvement with NIL is killing this sport.

I understand we can’t consistently do that, but you can’t tell me we can’t match a select few.

I seriously doubt he de-commits. The one position group where we can definitively say we will put you in the league is WR, and the kid's love Hankton.

what do you consider a competitive offer? 80% of the highest offer. also, clemson has a top receiver from texas and georgia has 2 top 100 guys from texas. so, we can't match those schools either. how did they beat texas and texas a&m offers?

LSU is I think 3rd in the SEC in alumni giving, I understand that’s not a straight line from that to NIL for football but I just don’t believe there isn’t one or two players a cycle we can’t push all the chips in on.

By all accounts, we're prepared to empty the clip so to speak for Bryce Underwood. We just have to be more strategic with how money is spent not just in high school but in the portal.

If I was Moore and wanted to go to a school that produces Wide receivers like LSU is Ohio st. Arch manning won’t be the answer throwing him balls.

Well I hope so because Bryce ain’t going to Texas, I’ve heard they signed the greatest QB of all time. He attended NO camps, played no 7/7, and had average #s in high school but word is HE was evaluated fairly just like these recruiting services do every recruit in the biz. I guess it was those private workouts in front of all the Site Ranking talent evaluators that we were not privy to OR

It could be because of CLICKS
I’m going with the latter.

And no way in hell Sark is going to manage all these Prima Donna 5* egos.

I wouldn’t put it past Sark to get beat by Venables in 2 weeks

This is his second time in Austin in 3 weeks and he's expected to go to Red River the week after.

Always felt it was unlikely we will keep him. I also question whether a lot of these out of state kids will play games with other schools to make the team they plan on committing to have to offer more money. Just can’t trust anything anymore.

People panic for no reason just because he is visiting. If anyone thought he wasn't going to visit schools and especially schools in Texas they are in denial. He could be doing the samething like Atkins enjoying the process.

I just hate seeing LSU get used as a bargaining chip by these Texas kids

I think there are those cases like Perkins. We may not have been the highest, but at least close enough to get him here.

Simmons was likely one of those guys, but we had additional factors working against us. DL coach continuity and proximity to family and competitor schools probably had an effect.

Getting Durham, Moore and Simmons would have been like drawing to an inside straight. Now Moore is teetering.

Either he's wavering or got a sweet honey that he sees at TX, and keeps going back for seconds, thirds & more...
