Did you even click the link? The mean British/Irish ancestry is 3x higher than the mean German/French. That is the entire point of this thread. Self reported data is BS.

Here is an example. According to census data 7% of white alabamans are English and 5% are German. Does that make any sense to you?

Agreed, unfortunately I never saw an Italian/Sicilian bubble to fill in on the ACT/SAT, never seen it on a job application either.

I am French, German and British.

French and German are kind of the same thing if you go back far enough. One side of my family was traced back to the Alsace-Lorraine region which was considered France and Germany at different times.

The other half of my family is from modern day England at least back to the early 16th century and likely came to America in 1635.

No and yes. The Germans ended up, primarily in the big cities and the Midwest. Same for many of the Scandinavians. The Irish went everywhere. However, as recently as the 1980 census, roughly 2/5 of Alabamans indicated English ancestry, so if your citations are correct, that is a reduction of 85% in just 43 years.

Now, I will say that I indicated Scots Irish in my posts, and that was accurate for the South in the 19th Century, but there were both Scottish and Irish (proper Irish stock of either Ulster or Free varieties) waves and many of them ultimately did go South. Many folks in the South, due to this predominance of Scots Irish culture will often use that term regardless if the actual ancestor is Scot, Irish or Scots Irish.

If you are white and do so, then you’re a literally Nazi racist.

I have been tested. My ancestry is:

44% England, 26% Scotland, 15% Ireland, 10% Wales and 5% Norway

I can't dance or jump.

The largest ancestry group in the US is German.

I'm torn on your assertion. Part of me wants to say, "No way there are more Germans here with bigger families over time than the Irish", but part of me recognizes that a shite ton of Americans are of German ancestery.

Well, this is self reported, so take that into account.

I think the problem is that people are typically going to just identify with their more recent ancestor. If you have a grandfather from Germany you might say you are German and discount the other 75% of your ancestry cause it is just old stock american, and you would need an ancestry account to trace it any further.

I think most white Americans are in general a mix of British and German. I don’t think Germans beat them out and in fact I think there is more scots Irish people than Germans, as well as English, but who really knows.

I was told my family was primarily French, Scots Irish and English.

Now that I have looked back, there is a smattering of Welsh, more than a little from Scotland direct, yes Scots Irish and Irish, but German/Belgian that I did not expect.

I even had an ancestor born in Cuba (with a very German sounding last name.) Has to be a story there...

At first they said I was >1% Iberian Peninsula so I got ready to cash in and was telling everyone I was Hispanic. Then they came back a little later and said that was wrong and instead of 99.9% white I was 100% Scot-Irish, the palest of the pale. I now refer to myself as a person of colorless.

On a side note, I have a couple real nice flamenco suits for sale, if anyone is interested.

My great great grandfather on my father's side, Jean Baptiste Rougot, immigrated from France to New Orlaens in 1760. My great grandfather moved to St. Landry Parish and married a Elizabeth Lede.

My Great Grandfather on my Mom's side , Matija Turk immigrated from Croatia to east texas in 1890 and married Velma Lanford (english). Also on my Mom's side. Orville Gisch (german) died in Calcasieu parish, where my grandmother was born (lake charles).

My sir name is english/scottish but we haven't found a whole lot about that part of the family.
