The different reactions of the mothers of the two suspects is interesting:

A story should not be told. Put them both down on live TV. That's how you start fixing some of this.

The most interesting fact about the El Salvadoran populace is that as of a couple of years ago, 30% of El Salvador now lives in the United States.

Over the last month or so, I have had to complete a LOT of governmental forms. There are ALWAYS two questions. The first is "race," with the five choices described above. The second question asks about Latino heritage (including "no Latin heritage" as one choice. Both questions are invariably there on the same form.
I hope this is not too personal a question. If so, please just say so. Have you ever taken one of those DNA tests that tells your regional heritage (like Ancestry.com)? I ask because I have lots of friends of Mexican heritage, and they invariably have more than half European heritage. My best friend is as "Latino" as he could be (raised partially in Mexico), and his heritage was 70+ percent European and less than 30% Indigenous/Native American.
