New horror film premiered today on Hulu. Haven't watched it yet but it's been receiving good reviews so far.

Just saw this on Hulu and checked here first to see if any yous reviewed it yet. noticing now it just came out today.

Gonna watch tonight. Seems like something I’d enjoy being labeled a psychological thriller and dealing with aliens.

Reading more reviews it seems it would be something that’s not for everyone. the reviews are pretty polarizing and if it truly is dialogue-free like I read then that’s understandable.

My honest but unfair answer to that is who gives a shite. It’s a visual medium. If the director is skilled enough, shouldn’t really need dialogue to tell its story.

Most dialogue is trash anyway in movies

Haven't watched but the trailer makes it look like they invaded her house and then she just continued to stay there by herself. If true, real believable

That was my problem with it; seemed unrealistic. Not to mention the no dialogue thing

Well, she is home alone fighting off aliens. Who would she be talking to?

What concerns me more than the lack of dialog is a review I read that said something to the effect that he aliens are secondary to her healing from some sort of past psychological trauma.

I saw an interview with the director and he said the main character feels like an alien in her home town and everyone hates her for an undisclosed reason. She's a recluse because of whatever it is so when actual aliens invade, that's why she's alone the whole movie. So if any baws are looking for straight forward alien probing chicks in a night gown or Will Smith dunking on ET with one liners, I'm sure they'll be disappointed.

Just finished this. I liked it okay, but it’s not super great or anything.

Spoilers.

The best part is the initial home invasion part. That was really well done and the alien looks great.

The whole personal trauma thing is weird, and I wasn’t expecting her to have literally killed her best friend. But it makes sense as to why Maude’s parents hate her and why she’s somewhat of an outcast in town.

They did a good job of having her fight back in a semi believable “human girl” kind of way. It’s not like she was Mary Janing all over the place. So that was nice.

The end was a bit strange with the dancing and whatever. I assume it to mean that everyone is under the “alien trance” sort of thing, especially considering the UFOs are flying around and she’s now accepted by the townsfolk. But that was still sort of an odd ending.

All in all, it’s not bad. I’d recommend it if you like alien type movies, and again the first 10-15 minutes or so with the initial home invasion is really well done and pretty creepy.

yep I’m with you. I thought the invasion and Grays were portrayed interestingly enough which made it worth watching for me, but I didn’t get the story.

Was annoyed she just went back home on her own knowing good and well what was coming and ending did nothing for me.
