China, U.S.: Xi Jinping Signals Interest in U.S.-China Cooperation - I wonder why?

You gotta give it to the Chinese. Their economy is taking a big time hit, the natives are agitated, and the US President needs to look formidable. In other words, it is a bigly huge win win for China to show a willingness to insure US - China cooperation.

The sad and tragic part of all of this is it’s not the poor and hard working people of China who are at fault, just like it is here. Our ‘Leaders’ have become so damned corrupt that even talk can’t help because nobody can trust what the other says. We get so much stuff made by the hard working people of China that if it crashes we are going down with it. Right now the Unions are striking for what kind of work/pay? What a mess. Runaway train. I feel bad for the poor folk. They always catch it.

The german tribes would threaten to overrun Rome, the empire would pay them a huge ransom and they would go away. The germans did not lose personnel and the soldiers (hordes) were compensated so they were ready for another go when needed.
The "citizens" of the germanic tribes thought their hordes, and the leaders heroes.
And the Romans continued with bread and circuses....until there was nothing left to ransom.
Ya think all this saber rattling about Taiwan is...what it is? We released 6 billion and a handful of terrorists for six people who should not have been in Iran in the first place. What do you think the ransom on Taiwan will be? Ill kill my own people if you dont drop all tariffs on china, give me all R&D research on all US companies and permanent offices in the WH...that should do it, anything to keep the peace for Taiwan, where is my Taiwan lapel pin?????

We want China cracked, not shattered. If you think 2021 was bad, a full Chinese economic collapse will take us with it. They need to be too busy to cause trouble, but not so bad they totally stop functioning.

If they stop functioning, other people make what they had been making while they stop drawing in all the resources from the rest of the world which are in short supply.
They are already getting cut out of supply chains because of the port situation since Covid, along with them pissing off EVERYBODY by lying about Covid while grabbing all the medical supplies and other resources that weren’t nailed down.
Their place in the world has been a mix of large consumers, sending out cheap trinkets, and stealing western tech.
We are getting cheap trinkets from elsewhere and we are sick of them stealing western tech.

Agree, Rib. It’s like a cancer, killing the cancer cancer can kill the body as well. Not killing the cancer just buys time for ultimate death. I honestly would trust Xi in a talk more than Obama/Dem Party. Would really be interesting to see a real and uncensored ‘debate’ between Xi and someone like Thomas Sowell to extoll Capitalist virtue/practicality. Albeit Totalitarianism is superior as a raw power due to the unified population. Is there any crime in China outside of the ideological’ human rights’ stuff?
