Very classy move by Deion Sanders, who made sure to say this during his press conference today:

"Henry Blackburn is a good player who played a phenomenal game... This is a still young man trying to make it in life ... He does not deserve a death threat over a game."

"I forgive him. Our team forgives him. Travis Hunter has forgiven him. Let's move on. That kid does not deserve that."

That's one way to put it. Another would be, "Hunter was injured on the play and a penalty was called, but it's football and stuff happens. Knock off the bullshite."

Forgiving someone implies someone did something warranting the need for forgiveness. I agree it was a late hit and deserved a penalty, but I'm not so sure it was as egregiously malicious as what's being assumed.

Someone somewhere will use this to attempt to justify calling deion a piece of shite or whatever.

That’s fair, but the first half Colorado state played was dirrrrrrrrrty. Really dirty. There were guys throwing punches after the whistle, late hits out of bounds, massive amounts of shite talking and provocation. The fact that it almost came to a brawl was not on Colorado.

Deion is Deion, but this is all pretty much boiling down to white on black as does everything in this backwards country.

When did Prime's kid poke the guy's eyes? What quarter was that?

Oh that was in the first half too. CU innocent. CSU guilty. Sanders may get suspended

Imagine if that's the way Deion put it His arse would be getting roasted for not saying more and not sticking up for a kid getting death threats.

So basically the same thing Deion said.

For all you know, maybe the player reached out to apologize.

Nothing in Deion's statement assumes that.

Meh. What Deion or any of us may have thought about it at the time is irrelevant. Dude is getting death threats and Deion is trying to nip that shite in the bud before it gets out of hand. I respect it.

And I’m not “pro” or “anti” Deion. I have no emotional investment either way. I’m paying attention because of how fun his son, Hunter, and their offense are to watch. But the most impressed by Deion as a coach that I’ve been was how he kept their team’s emotions in check and remained relatively calm and collected Saturday night. That shite could have easily gotten out of hand.

And fwiw, I wasn’t even mad at the CSU players. A bunch of 18-21-year-old, testosterone-filled, Division 1 athletes whose game the whole world seemed to have descended on and tuned in to, and not 1 person could have named a single player on their team. Nobody would have known their coach from Adam if he hadn’t said that about the sunglasses. I can see that pissing some young men off and having them feel a certain way. And having a chip on their shoulders that manifested in over-aggressiveness and multiple personal fouls.

My perception of their play wasn’t that it was “dirty,” just that they felt a little disrespected and wanted to let people know who they were. And they had a hard time reining it in. I came out impressed with both teams.

I don't think you understand it, man. Prime and Colorado can do no wrong at this point in time. This reminds me of "Linsanity." Give it a couple weeks and we'll all have moved on.

No, he doesn’t. And I doubt Deion would have ever said anything if it weren’t for the death threats. This is a reaction to how that guy is getting treated, not the hit itself. I don’t understand how you can’t comprehend the difference.

Anyone who thought Deion wouldn’t pass up a moment for good press is dumb. He’s always recruiting kids to come play for them and part of that is getting mommas on board.
