Former President Donald J. Trump is planning to travel to Detroit on the day of the next Republican primary debate, according to two Trump advisers with knowledge of the plans, injecting himself into the labor dispute between striking autoworkers and the nation’s leading auto manufacturers.

The trip, which will include a prime-time speech before current and former union members, is the second consecutive primary debate that Mr. Trump is skipping to instead hold his own counterprogramming. He sat for an interview with the former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that posted online during the first G.O.P. presidential debate in August.

quote:

So instead of attending the next G.O.P. debate — on Sept. 27 in California at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum — Mr. Trump intends to speak to over 500 workers, with his campaign planning to fill the room with plumbers, pipe-fitters, electricians, as well as autoworkers, according to one of the Trump advisers familiar with the planning.

Standing up for unions.

“Stand strong against Biden’s vicious attack on American labor and American auto workers,” Trump said in a statement Wednesday. “And if you want more jobs, higher wages and soaring pensions, vote for President Trump and have your leaders endorse me.

Smart move in this case. Let's see how President Potato responds.

If Trump gets re elected and reins in the NLRB, that is a good thing. The current problem with 'private' sector unions is that government rules are slanted towards them. So they are barely 'private'.

Remember when Desantis supporters had placed all of their hopes on the debates to give him a chance?

Yep.

Trying to work on a pressing issue of the day beats having to answer what your favorite color is for the MSM host of the night.

Shadow the shadow government

Actions speak louder than an hour long circle jerking assassination attempt

Thing is: he has a record, he was president

$100k+ and a pension to work 32 hours a week, driving up costs for consumers when it already costs $60k to buy an F-150 now

Siding with these shitstains is something only a leftist would do

Running from the debates is legit a good strategy for Trump. It worked for Katie Hobbs.

Pro union employee, not pro union.

If I said what I thought about union officials, I’d be suspended. Again.
