Oh look, the Russian Navy lost another Ropucha Class landing ship, the Minsk, and a Kilo class submarine, the Rosto-on-Don. Both received significant damage while in a dry dock.

It is comical that Russia is losing to a country that has no naval ships.

Fun facts:

Russia has less that 1/2 the population of the USA, and 1/10 the population of China.

Yet for 70 years, they were considered our main rivals as a global superpower.

This is posted on the poliboard, where they know the real truth that russia is winning and everything negative we hear for them is cia propaganda.

You should post this on the OT, where they know the real truth of everything that Ukraine is winning and all the negative things we hear about ukraine’s progress is FSB propaganda.

If losing ships meant losing a war it would have been over on Dec 7 1941.

So, targets that aren't moving, have no defenses, and don't serve as combat power. How does this help Ukraine? How is this an economical use of ordnance (that Ukraine has very little of)?

Take away US aid and technology and Ukraine wouldn’t be a thing.

I also don’t enjoy these “victories” as it will likely bite us in the arse.

This is true.

have no defenses

This is not. Russia had their air defenses all over the place. Had being the key word there.

and don't serve as combat power

Neither is this.

Morale. Fricking up the Black See Fleet. Killing their enemies. All of that sounds helpful.

Just one of the vessels costs over a billion fricking dollars. How much do you think a few missiles goes for?

Seems like a good return on investment to me. More supplies will be sent. Russia is now procuring arms from the Norks. So they are being degraded now too. South Korea has to love this development. China can't be all that thrilled.

Russia's biggest mistake in this was not going to war already fully mobilized. Had they done that I believe they would've overrun Ukraine. But they didn't. Maybe they get their crap together and figure that out in the future and change things but right now Ukraine is doing some damage all over the place.

The population of the USSR (Russian Empire) was greater than that of the USA for most of those 70 years. It included the Baltic Countries, Ukraine, the stans, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia and a few other now independent countries I can't remember. They even had three votes in the UN.

It could be that during the cold war the West overestimated the capabilities of the USSR. Today the Russians tend to use a large amount of bluff and bluster and were probably doing the same in those years. But they were a genuine world power second only to the USA.

You don't think a Kilo class submarine that can deploy up to 24 mines, equipped with 8 surface to air missiles and 18 torpedoes doesn't "serve as combat power"? This specific Kilo class sub arrived in the Black Sea last year just 10 days before Russia began its land attack on Ukraine.

The landing ship Minsk is one of six landing ships Russia has in its Black Sea fleet and has been suspected of being a part of a plan to participate in an amphibious landing on Ukraine's Black Sea coast most likely at or near the city of Odessa.

They better have a shitload of ordinance which everything we, the taxpayers have had stolen from us. We could have turned East Palestine, OH and Maui into gold-plated paradises grass blade by grass blade for that amount of money.
