On Tuesday, September 5, 2023, West Monroe High School announced that Garvin was placed on administrative leave nearly a month after three players from the program were taken to a hospital due to heat exhaustion. The Ouachita Citizen reported that two of the players received fluids for dehydration at the hospital and another was transported to a medical center in Shreveport, La. after his symptoms continued during the night.
As a response to the incident, Garvin reportedly reached out to other local coaches to discuss how to combat the extreme temperatures. Garvin was named the Head Football Coach for the school on May 2, 2023.
Sounds like it’s more than just this incident otherwise damn when I was in HS we practiced 3 a days in the august heat and then from 3:30 to 7 sometimes later if coach thought we were goofing off. Granted this was 1990-94

Some are now saying Garvin is not going to Ruston. IDK
I am hearing a several of different stories but I will not comment on them.
I have NO IDEA what's the real story.
Regardless, Kevin Davis is now the interim head coach and has a proven winning record with several football state championships on his resume.
I am afraid that there is some major in-fighting going on at the WM football program and in the administration.
Someone is going to have to step in and get this mess straightened out or West Monroe football is in for a some very lean years.
Some are now saying Garvin is not going to Ruston. IDK

The paper posted a story yesterday saying the news is false. Which was true because he was still under contract at Ouachita Parish School Board. But that ended this morning and now the news is reporting it as official.

As head coach? Why would a head coach with multiple state championships be an assistant?
