Lynyrd Skynyrd-Opening act for the Rolling Stones at Knebworth 1976:
3 Steps
Whiskey
"Fans paid $4.50 each for the concert at Knebworth Park, in Hertfordshire, dubbed at the time as The Glyndebourne of Rock, where The Stones were supported by the Don Harrison Band, Hot Tuna, Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and 10cc. Skynyrd played a blistering set with their classic, “Free Bird” at its heart."

I wanna say The Grifters opening for Guided By Voices at the Howlin' Wolf in NOLA circa '94...
I believe they flipped a coin each night to determine the order.. if the reverse had happened, it'd prob still top my list...

1976
This is considered one of the most influential concerts ever, as a number of future punks were in the audience and saw the Ramones showing how it was done
But don't ever forget - the Groovies were the headliners

Guns & Roses opening for The Cult in New Orleans 1987.
Never heard of them until that night. This was just before Welcome to the Jungle was released. They played the entire Appetite For Destruction album that night. They blew everybody away!!
