Just a quick reminder, about 20-30% of Americans supported our independence.

That minority fought for the birth of our constitutional republic, around 30-40% were loyal to the Crown and the rest were indifferent, relatively fat and happy.
This ^^^ is the birth of a nation. The odds of this nation ever becoming the greatest nation in the history of the world rested on the backs of a minority of bad arse revolutionaries. I guess the question is are a minority of Americans going to allow the corrupt and compromised ruling elites and apathetic/pathetic Americans to destroy what so many have fought, bled and died for?

I’ve heard several historians tell of the breakdown of the colonists and their loyalty to the formation of what’s now known as the United States of America. A lot of colonists were indifferent and 30% or more were loyal to the Crown.
My father’s side of the family came over from Scotland as indentured servants, my great, great, great grandfather died in his late 50’s drying gunpowder during the Revolutionary War. You won’t find that information on the internet but you will find it on Ancestry.com if I gave you my grandfather’s surname.

This is a GREAT depiction of those 3 groups during that that time. If you haven’t already watched it, I highly recommend it. It’s based on true characters, and you really get a glimpse of those truly loyal to the crown, those simply afraid to rock the boat, and those who believed in freedom, liberty, and justice for all. Families and friends and neighbors divided.

These few spies were badass revolutionaries as you put it, and this country would have never been born had it not been for them. So strange that we weren’t taught more about them/Washington’s spies in school.

EXCELLENT series! One my favorites ever. Everything about that series was excellent. Samuel Roukin was amazing as Simcoe! And Angus MacFadyen and the guy who played John Andre was, well. Robert Rogers and John Andre are both fascinating people and they did a great job portraying them.
The book is also a great read.

The toughest part is the landscape is so different. I genuinely do not want portions of this country to be a part of what is created after the next revolution. We need smaller nation states with more local power and no conglomerate of assholes in one location above all. Fatal flaw of our republic.

No, that was the birth of one specific nation at one specific moment in time.
Who fought at a time when cannons and muskets and bayonets were the weapons of war and they were fighting an army whose home base was across the Atlantic during a period of time when it took four months for a British officer in America to send and receive a dispatch from Mother England.
If your 30% insurrectionists included a majority of current military and law enforcement, we might could reasonably conceive of something like what you're suggesting, but not really.
We're far too comfortable for a revolution.

Same here - from Invernate, settled in Richmond approx.1760's
