Agreed, we got burned every time and thankfully we saw and stopped it. On the other hand I saw Duke rush 3 and got heavy pressure on the Clemson's' QB and got a sack or two. I guess it comes down to the dog's in the hunt.

Mississippi States OC is Kevin Barbay. He has zero connection to Mike Leach or the air raid. He’s a Jim McElwain disciple.
MSU threw the ball 29 times and ran 39 in week 1 against Southeastern. They were only beating SLU 20-7 at halftime and 27-7 in the 4th quarter. They suck and we’re going to beat their arse.

We didn’t sit back and rush three against FSU, so what makes you think we will against MSU?
You have to mix things up, and max zone is one of the things you have to throw in there from time to time. The key is not to be predictable.

One, the 3 man rush + 8 zone is typical for defending the air raid.
Two, as has been stated, Mike Leach is no longer with us, and a new offensive system under Kevin Barbay has been installed. Run/pass ratio will be much more balanced.
Hard to say how the new system and Rogers will work; it took them forever to get going against SE LA. Need to see how they do against Arizona on Saturday. State's depth chart has a lot of upper classmen and several returning starters, so there's potential to be dangerous.

K.J. Costello looked way too good for a reason. An inexperienced secondary was tasked with chasing after 5 receivers every play. He got shut down as soon as teams started dropping 8.

They don't run a Mike Leach system anymore, like not even air raid concepts. It was a pretty big deal in the off-season when their new coach made that announcement because their entire offense, including Will Rogers, was built to run the air raid. Will Rogers has run that system since high school. However, dropping 8 into coverage, is exactly how you limit an air raid offense

We must have watched a different ball game as I saw us rush 3 and drop back into coverage at least dozen times Sunday and we got burned almost every single time.
I don’t give a flying frick what the coverage is you give any decent QB all day to throw the ball and you are will typically get beat. But hell we held them under 50 so that’s something.
And I don’t give a frick what they normally do bro, as a coaches son let me explain something to you genius. There are coaches copies of that game that everyone we play this year are going to get and if you don’t try to throw for 400 on us regardless of your standard set of plays you are an idiot.
I am sure Saban has already had his coaching clinic coaches go through that 50 times and designed a dozen plays for us out of it.
They showed everyone in America our flaws and how to exploit them and if you don’t think everyone on our schedule is going to use that you are clueless
