After last night, Kelly better change his tune with that. Every other program that is chunking money at elite talent will be able to compete. He has no elite talent at DB and two decent defensive linemen. Nothing we have coming in points to that changing.

After the showing we witnessed last night, I’m not sure of how many of our higher end recruits will even stick. Had all off-season to prepare and that’s the $100million coaching job that was put on display. Kelly better start throwing bags at elite recruits or his tenure is going to be a miserable time for us fans.

Yeah everyone on the recruiting board says it’s okay and we shouldn’t bid with the big dogs.

Recipe for disaster

I wonder if we don’t have the money. He’s said things like “we have to be more judicious with NIL” which sounds to me like it’s a budget issue.

I agree we need to recruit at a higher level but that wasn't the issue last night. Take a look at FSU recruiting since Norvell took over vs lsu. We had a top 5 class last year and FSU hasn't even sniffed the top 10. We were outcoached last night. There were no adjustments after half time either.

The other big killer is depth. We have some playmakers but they were all gassed by q4 and it showed last night. Kelly inherited a mess from O that he's still cleaning up but regardless of that we should have had better coaching last night.

Last year we won the west and beat bama after our loss to FSU. Not saying it will happen again this year but people saying everything about our team and coaching staff is shite and the season is over need to remember we're still a young team and Kelly hasn't even had a full recruiting cycle see the field yet.

I'm not gonna panic right now but last night was definitely concerning. I think many people on here had way too high of expectations after seeing baseball and WBB win championships last year and football winning the West. High expectations aren't a bad thing and Kelly should be getting us closer to that championship each year. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out and our recruiting ends up this year.

Got downvotes for days on losing to the Texas schools on recruits. We’re a second tier school now

let me save you the suspense.... he won't, b/c he can't...

LSU, when you take the PnG glasses off, just simply doesn't have the same type of money that the top tier teams have... that's not a knock on LSU, it's just a fact of life... we have very few big money donors that can really put a ton of money out, and it sure as shite don't help when we have to keep asking those same donors for millions of dollars for buyouts to get rid of coaches every 3-4 years...

Just wait till next year when Wingo and maason are gone. Holy shite.

And don't give me that portal Will solve all problems.

You have to start getting elite talent.

Fsu has done excellent in the portal.

They have a good coaching staff.

Players like verse,Fisk, Cantrell cypress, jaheim bell, and coleman.

They are a well coached team. Denbrock isn't a very good oc imo.

Kelly all but tempered expectations all offseason
We are not on the same talent level as bama or uga and that is a fact
Preseason 5 was probably too high and was all because you beat bama and destroyed a depleted Purdue in bowl
They also played down to ark and Aggies and got blown out by uga

It didn’t help that fsu brought back all their players that could have opted for nfl draft

We can bid all we want, LSU is not matching Texas or Florida schools. They have wayyyyyyyy more money to pool from. Louisiana is a poor state

Most of the industrial companies in Louisiana are actually headquartered in Houston and full of Aggies

If LSU simply can’t match spending for elite recruiting anymore then I’d rather they just shut the program down. Screw participating in this bastardization of CFB

For sure. Wasn't trying to disparage what they have done but we have done well in the portal also. I just feel like these posts about how we lost because of a lack of "elite recruiting" is off base because it's not like fsu was stacked. They had more depth and their playmakers showed up, ours didn't come back after half time. I see that as more of a coaching issue than anything. It's also criminal what the coaches did to Harold Perkins. That must be fixed asap. Keeping him a glorified qb spy all night was not optimizing his talent.

I'm not a big Denbrock fan either, but what concerns me most about the offense I saw last night was that Daniels still doesn't appear to be able to make the reads and be on the same page with his receivers. Watching him and Nabors last night you would have thought they never played football together. It doesn't look like the work was put in off the field for Daniels to get better chemistry with his receivers, and if it was, then that's even scarier. If Daniels and the receivers can't get on the same page we need to try Nuss in there.

Even losing transfer portal battles hurts we were in on Verse , Fisk, Coleman, and Morlock and that’s just the transfers on FSU’s roster

They were always dumb. It was a part of the “it’s only July crowd” who continued to make excuses while A&M and Texas continued to poach Louisiana’s best talent. Recruiting matters. Those teams will pass us on the field as they develop their talent. Meanwhile we’ll grab another undersized three star in the portal to desperately fill a position of need.

Enough with the excuses! BK has a serious deficit in recruiting and talent evaluation. I’m praying this turns around in 2025 and 2026. If the on-field product looks as shitty as it did last night, his arse needs to be on the trail

We lost out on Cypress to FSU because we wouldn’t pay as much. He was the best corner on the field last night. They beat us for Fiske, Morlock, and Coleman as well. We have to be relentless in recruiting and we just aren’t

This isn’t Bama of the 1980s. You haven’t been paying attention.

Kia, Mercedes, Thyssen Krupp, Airbus, Yellawood, and the new $2.5B aluminum plant in Baldwin County coming.

Alabama has been running circles on growing citizens and businesses for years. Politicians like Blanco or JBE wouldn’t stand a chance of getting elected in Alabama.

There’s a reason LA is the only southern state losing population (now the 3rd lowest in the SEC states). Eventually LSU (with all its built in advantages) suffers for LA being a shitehole.
