because the government is picking the winners and losers.

True because the funds backing the companies do not invest based on profitability. This is something entirely different.

Timing would matter right?
Were these companies successful before investing in ESG, thus they had the capital to do so?

Try that in a small market.

frick that. Make me money. Things that don't make money need to disappear. Platitudes like, "diversity is our strength," are bullshite.
The fact that Fidelity, BlackRock, etc., invest billions in these dickhead companies with DEI initiatives does not make the companies in question make more money.
But this does feel like bait.

And I’ve never seen such a speculative market. TSLA is flush with cash and actually turns a profit in the EV game but is wildly fluctuating every time Elon is in the news about something culture/politics related.

Because the people that control the stock market are the ones telling them ESG is important.

If it yields a positive return on my Fidelity investments, then I don't give a frick what kind of stock it is. Any profit is better than no profit.
Making money is more important than being obsessed with politics. The OG Jordan Belfort once said “I’ve been a rich man and I’ve been a poor man, and I choose rich every fricking time.” Dude did whatever the frick it took to get rich, and he succeeded. People need to quit being so hooked on politics and focus on getting rich through whatever endeavor they need to do it in.

Yeah, it should tell you that the whole "we need to start using this and not that because of global warming" is complete horseshite.
You think the government or politicians push something because they are concerned about the people? If anyone should go to jail for insider trading it should be most people in the US congress.

Well blackrock and vanguard are literally willing to dump money just because of ESG scores, not profitability.
It’s conflating correlation with causality.
Most of Hollywood products have a bunch of “woke” stuff because Hollywood is woke. It’s not a reflection of reality.

My company is pretty big on esg/dei, I've been dumping their stock since the crash and recycling it into ET and other dividend payers as fast as it gets fully vested. Love ET's 49 ESG score almost as much as their >19% payout (based on my buy in)

And that's why there is no free market.

One big player in my segment took a tooooonnn of state street and vanguard money to grow and they went all out this last pride month.
They grew ridiculously with all the capital and flamed out and are now looking for a buyer.

Ask the same AI what a woman is.
The people who program it to give you that bullshite answer are also the ones telling AI to give the answer.

Because funds wouldn't buy your stock unless you were ESG rated. So it was a feedback loop.

1) Govt incentives
2) Green investment firms
Ride the wave while you can bc once the government gravy train stops, the revenue will sharply decrease and stock prices will fall. It’s not a long term play without Govt incentives. The technology is not cost effective and the power out lput doesn’t satisfy demand.
