He did some good things and some bad things at LSU. I will never forgive him for leaving before the bowl game and leaving us with a wide receiver to play QB. Never!!

Transferred to play with his brother but forgot his brother was actually kind of good and he wasn’t. Something tells me his brother won’t be transferring to Last Chance U just to be able to play with big bro.

His brother was in HS and committed to us. We hired a coach that gets TEs drafted probably better than anyone the last 10 years, and an OC that's a TEs coach.

They seemed to have a pretty nice set up to play together.

It really was a very odd decision by the family.

Surely his name by now is Minimum Johnson?

I agree. Max was our hero for one season here when he stepped up and showed that he was our best option at the time.

Absolutely.

His play salvaged a little bit of dignity in 2020 where O seemed determined to totally destroy the program.

He wasn't great in 2021, but was far from the only problem. And his final play as a LSU Tiger will be a beautiful game winning pass to piss off A&M in an otherwise meaningless game for LSU.

After that, a completely new coaching staff was coming to LSU. One that didn't recruit Johnson. Should he have stuck it out here? That's easy to say from the outside looking in. But whether he stayed at LSU or went somewhere else, everything was going to be "new" for him.

The real question is why A&M? Jimbo has become the new Les Miles. Stubbornly married to an antiquated offensive approach that everyone, except him, can see is not working. All it is doing is running QBs into the ground. So, if you have options, why go there?

At this point, the single biggest impact Max will have had on the TAMU program is pulling a win out of his arse in 2021 and fricking the aggies out of a 9 win season

Best of luck whatever he does. To me he’ll always be the guy who hit the game-winning TD against A&M and who carried us through the dark depths of 2020-21. The game is way too businesslike now to hate on people for going to division rivals. Just thankful for the good we got from him while he was here.

When I see people bitter about what another man decides to do with his life I interpret it as “you know, maybe I should not have put so much emotion and hope into the decisions of an 18 year-old recruit”.

When I see or hear Max Johnson’s name I only think of him hitting a beautiful sideline pattern vs Florida at the Swamp for a big TD in the 4th. Wasn’t he the QB throwing to Boutte in the Ole Miss game? People quit their jobs when someone gets promoted over them - it happens.

Well said.
