Did they sleep in tents on the bank? Probably but you could even rent a room sometimes if you wanted to
Catch fish for dinner? Sure, or stopping in towns on the way
During the summer? I think my move would be to start during august and get to the south around late September or October
Where they get the money to take off for 3 months

What’s so psycho about it? People have been doing for centuries.

Nothing new, peeps been doing this for a long time.
I remember when one got sucked under, canoe and all
The current and undertow in parts of river are no joke. I remember when local news was live about 10 years ago, and a small tow boat got sucked into and under by ole mighty miss, right after eads bridge in st.louis.

Can you imagine the Lewis and Clark Expedition paddling up that thing?

IF I had time to do something like this I'd probably paddle right past St Louis, Memphis, BR, and NOLA...

I went down the rabbit hole watching their videos last night. Just to see the different landscape changes as they made their way down. Honestly, the guy can get a bit annoying. So I just skip around a lot, but I caught myself looking at it for an hour when I couldn't sleep.

No, but when they were in NOLA, they showed her heat rash on her back.....if that's your thing.

I’ve been on the Mississippi from New Orleans to Minneapolis. It’s much different when you get to Iowa. There’s spots with no levies and homes with backyards that back right up to the river. A lot more recreational boating up that way and beaches where people swim in the river.
You’d have to get out and go around the locks and dams in the upper river, and the weaker current would require more paddling.
Once you get south of Cairo, the current will guide you straight. You’re prolly just trying not to get turned sideways or flip.

Yeah, but think of the guns you’d develop.
