I’m listening to Cover 3 and Josh Pate.

What are some others that give reasonable takes?

Many give "reasonable" takes. It's just that many fans don't want to hear any negative aspects about their favorite team

I’m looking for the good, the bad, and the ugly.

True dat.

But I’m really looking to understand the realities before I put on my purple and gold glasses.

Solid Verbal. They are not as hardcore as some podcasters but they are entertaining.

I listen to A LOT of college football podcasts, multiple episodes of multiple shows every week.

The best shows for making you a smarter fan: Split Zone & Josh Pate

Good balanced shows: cover 3 & Until Saturday.

Most entertaining: solid verbal & unnecessary roughness.

I’ve dabbled in a few others over the years, none worth mentioning IMO.

Ranaudo has 2 guys that cover CFB called The 10 Second Runoff on the cards and culture youtube. They need a few more years under their belt to find their rhythm with the show but the football knowledge appears to be there

Josh Pate is the champ.
Chuck Oliver does a pretty good job - his show is based around talking to people who cover various schools with a little bit of commentary (he steers clear of hot takes). Pretty much all he he covers is SEC, the marquee ACC programs, Texas and Oklahoma.
And I like Saturday Down South a lot, although they get worked up about pretty silly things. (they did a whole segment about how the SEC policy of not allowing post spring portal transfers to play immediately at a member university was putting the conference at a competitive disadvantage )
One of the guys is an LSU grad.
