I might have to hook her up with the window unit!
Seriously, I don’t know how people are making it without ac in the car driving around in this heat. I tried putting freon in her car but just warm air coming out so I’m not looking forward to the repair cost.

What's the make and model?

Don't be dumb here. Put her in your car and you take the heat, literally. The guilt will have her sucking your golf ball through the water hose.

A car is not drivable right now without AC; get it fixed Monday, dude.

May be just the compressor clutch. Not to bad of a fix.

Check her cabin air filter.

Its likely a leak in the condenser. Just had that problem. Drove around for 3 weeks including moving 100% myself from my 2nd floor apartment to another 2nd floor apartment in 160 degree heat index in my truck.
I have a temp gauge I put in my truck. It was 130 degrees in truck with 30% humidity which results in 160 degree heat index. This was on a 100 degree day in Houston. My heat index in the car was 60 degrees higher than outside.
I got on yelp and got quotes and cheapest one was $400 post tax to supply and replace the condenser. Works fine now.

After it’s run for a couple minutes, try turning the heat up to the maximum and then turn it down fairly slowly to the lowest setting. It could be that the blend door actuator is not functioning properly

My first truck’s ac was broken for 4 years. I didn’t die, and it built character.
We could all use a little humbling occasionally.

My wife’s went out a few weeks ago. $2300 for evaporator coil and a couple other things. We ended up getting it for $1500 because they were supposed to have it for a couple days and ended up having it for a week and a half, so they discounted it for me.
Good luck, man.

I have an '07 Accord that lost A/C about 2 years ago.
I looked into all of the self helps at the time and none were good. The a/c repair estimate was about $1300 at the time.
I will check the fuses later today. That was one check that I didn't run.
When the wife's car gets paid off, I will probably get another quote and bite the bullet.

Just tell her it is a portable sauna and she needs to lose weight.
Seems like just yesterday when cars, homes, churches, and schools were not air conditioned and we got by just fine, we were not all fat asses though so there is that.

AC went out in my ‘02 Dodge. Can’t make myself spend the $2500 to fix it. AC isn’t that big of a deal. Just roll the windows down. What really sucks is no heat. Can’t just roll the windows down and warm up.

Go to Autozone, get a can of refrigerant with the gauge on it. Fixed mine. If that doesn't do it you know it's something you need to have a qualified mechanic diagnose.

Is it blowing but not cooling? I am sure 10 other people posted this-- check the relay. Easy to find and replace.
I replaced one in my wife's Honda in 5 minutes. it was like 20 bucks if I recall.

Sounds like you will be driving the wife's car temporarily.
