While I agree that your 20's ought to be a time when you should live in a less than glorious starter home or apt, I dont see the housing market coming down nor do I see wages/salaries going up or catching up in the next 10 years. Very pessimistic I know. This country is run by complete morons who don't think about their grandkids' future.

Looks like a bunch of selfish brats that want to live lives of indolent luxury yet not pay for it.

Shocking! IT professionals, engineers, and accountants aren’t on this list. Get a real job losers.

They all likely voted for this shite.
Let them feel the consequences.

But you'll also be paying inflated prices on the next house.

Perhaps they should move out of the most expensive areas in the country and try living in flyover country. Things are much, much cheaper there.
You want to live in NYC, San Diego or Boston, that's fine, but realize there is a high price to be paid for doing so.

We are staring down some real issues with affordable housing. Simply saying that gen Z needs to suck it up and figure it out belays the reality of the numbers.. real wages regarding basic living have been crushed by inflation and a lack of new affordable urban housing.. Gen Z in general doesn’t help their plight from a narrative standpoint but the issues are real

These people look at me, standing there in shorts, sandals, and a polo watering my azaleas, and think "what a stereotype." And yet they are each a stereotype of a different sort. The only difference is, I'm a stereotype who owns two cars and most of a 4-bedroom detached ranch house.

WTF is she whining about?
My wife and I lived in a studio apartment (and not in NYC) until we had a kid. That got cramped (more cramped than it would've been with 2 hipster lesbians, I promise), so we bought a house before the kid's 1st birthday. I was over 40 years old at the time.
There's no Magic Boomer House-Making Stick, Jess.

Oh yeah, they're the ones in control now, not old dudes paid off by the big companies to keep the poor poor and the rich richer.

It looks like the career choices those GenZ-ers made has more to do with their inability to pay rent than anything else.
It truly amazes me that people think they can pursue their "passion" and at the same time ignore it doesn't pay very well. I didn't pursue several things over the years, as a profession, simply because I could not afford to.

I bought that house years ago so...no...I didn't.

Gen Z is the only generation that doesn’t want to work actual jobs. Too many kids thinking they’ll be TikTok and Instagram celebrities, musicians, Hollywood actors, etc. It all goes back to their Gen X parents lying to them and giving them false hope.
This is the dumbest fricking generation I’ve seen in a long time. These kids are so stupid that they don’t even know what fricking gender they are. And top it off, they’re all a bunch of a narcissistic douchebags who think getting more likes on an Instagram/TikTok post is more important than actually building long-lasting relationships that will help them grow and mature. frick them
