The top of your head is correct. Thanks i edited. Margaritas and typing up data on your phone don’t really mix.

still have nightmares of sitting in student section that year and watching some of those games....esp. UGA.

Yeah, I remember being ranked as high as 1 preseason '12. And then the Honeybadger was released...AND THEY TOOK A REVOTE OF POLL LOL. Never had even heard of such a thing. Or that it was even possible. But hey, with prime Badger, we probably do win it all in 12. Dude was that impactful!

1998 LSU is the greatest team of all time to finish unranked

Strangest part about that season to me is that we whipped AU in JHS which never seems to happen and destroyed SECW champion Mississippi St 41-6 but still finished the year 4-7.

ETA: Actually no, strangest part about that season is that we lost to both Kentucky and Notre Dame by a final score of 39-36.

1998 was the most disappointing season in at least the last 30 years. Maybe longer.

After the worst 6 years in modern LSU football history (89-94), DiNardo had LSU back in the mix and on the cusp of reaching the SEC Championship game. 1998 had all of the ingredients for a great season. Senior starting QB (Tyler). Senior AA RB Kevin Faulk. A salty defense (with a new DC we would soon come to hate...forever). LSU started in the top 10 for what seemed like the first time in forever. They made it all the way to #6...before LSU couldn't stop Quincy Carter. That was the beginning of the end for DiNardo. Two straight losing seasons made it feel like 95-97 was just an aberration and LSU had returned back to where they sadly "belonged".

Then in November of 1999 LSU paid a ridiculous $1M (per year) to hire the Michigan St. coach whose arse was kicked by the guy LSU just fired?!!!

Little did we know.....

Team was pretty aligned in 2019. We owe Ed O for life for what he brought to us

Agreed. I’m happy the way it worked out. I’m happy he was hired and fired. Definitely could have given up after losing to Ms St and Troy St. He had a vision and plan to put together the greatest college football team of all time, THEN decided to quit. I’ll take it, and not ever say a bad word about good ole Coach Ed O.
