I don't think this concept really exists anymore but back in the 90s you had bands putting out songs only on some sort of compilation album, soundtrack, or foreign version of the album, that were never released on the studio version of any album. Plus you had Metallica and a few others release stuff exclusively to their fan clubs. Anyway, post some songs that casual fans of the bands may not have heard before.

Alice in Chains - A Little Bitter
Alice in Chains - What the Hell Have I
Pantera - Piss
Foo FIghters - Down In the Park
Smashing Pumpkins - Eye
Nine Inch Nails - Burn
Pearl Jam - Breath
Pearl Jam - State of Love and Trust
Smashing Pumpkins - Drown

extended version of Bluebird - Buffalo Springfield, "Bluebird" was recorded at Sunset Sound Recorders in Hollywood with Stills, Young, Furay, and drummer Dewey Martin. Original Buffalo Springfield bassist Bruce Palmer had been deported to Canada and, for the session, was replaced by Bobby West.

The Cars-Strawberry Moonlight.

Strawberry Moonlight 1977

Great vocals by Orr, blistering solo by Elliot, and Hawkes' wacky keyboards stand out big time.
They should have snuck it on to Panorama.

Pearl Jam - State of Love and Trust
Foo FIghters - Down In the Park
Smashing Pumpkins - Drown

It's on their Greatest Hits album, setlist says it's been played over 400 times live - I don't know if it was a single but radio stations played it - saw Eddie play it live with the Gaslight Anthem in Pensacola in 2012 or so, very fricking cool.

Pumpkins started playing Drown again alive last year, they played it at Champion's Square - such an underrated song

Not sure it's rare per say, but never released on digital format, it's on various cd releases, even released as a cd single to radio stations in the Netherlands (?) - Foo Fighter's cover of Baker Street off the same recording sessions as Down in the Park is pretty outstanding..

Adam Duritz has an amazing cover of Carmelita by Warren Zevon that's only on like an Imus comp, and maybe one other cd - it's a shame so many songs don't have proper digital releases for people to buy or to put on spotify, etc that aren't compressed mp3 versions on youtube

Irish Goodbyes by the Menzingers is one of my favorite songs of the last like 10 years that was only physically released on a really small random comp - thank god for digital

The Beatles-
These songs aren't rare for people who are Beatle fans but are definitely not hits or songs you might hear on the radio that often. I think they're some of their best songs and show their versatility.

And Your Bird Can Sing
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me and My Monkey
Happiness is a Warm Gun
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
Helter Skelter

If you were a grunge or alternative fan in the early 90s you definitely heard the Singles soundtrack but I don't know if younger fans or more casual fans would be familiar with those songs. I never heard them on the radio and they didn't have videos. They may have been played them live but I doubt many casual fans are listening to bootlegs, especially from 25 years ago.

For sure. They also played State of Love and Trust during their MTV Unplugged set.

Breath is another song that only appeared on the Singles soundtrack. Great song, but it's rarely played live.
