Boys coming of age party

Just looking for ideas here...
My cousin invited me to a party for his son today. It's supposed to be a birthday/graduation/coming of age party for his son who is 17. Apparently it's going to be men only and he asked that I get a gift that is relevant to a young man venturing out into the world (I think he may take a gap year then pursue college).
Has anyone here been a part of this and what would be some good gift ideas that would retain value as he makes life decisions? (Not whiskey or hookers lol)
Ant help is appreciated.

Strippers and a gift certificate to a vocational school.

Pocket knife. I'd say Spyderco, but if you're upper middle class think Benchmade.

How in the actual frick have we come to a place in society where this is really part of our vernacular

Sounds gay and when you said gap year it sounded real gay

I disagree, we should be supporting children that are making the jump from children to manhood/womanhood.

Take the kid camping. Build a fire. Catch some fish.
Time is the most valuable thing you can give, not things

This whole concept is frankly a little strange to me, but get the kid 1 share of Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, etc in certificate form.

The Terro baits help. Get the kind in a bottle, not the bait stations.

This sounds like a hella weird party.
But here are some graduation gifts that I appreciated and got the most use out of:
Toiletries kit for traveling
Hanging garment bag
Air compressor to keep on my car for tire issues
Nice knife

I agree with you. Seems strange to me that kids have normalized this.

A decent watch
A good suit
The books "The Richest Man in Babylon" and "The Millionaire Next-door"
A set of drinking glasses
Box of cigars

At least he isn't pursuing a trade. Now that's a gay word. Look it up.

It’s a crock of shite but if being financed by the parents it’s 100% their failure as a parent
