You were being a dick, own up to it.

If you re-read my post, you'll see that I stated sedentary lifestyles due to technology was primarily to blame.

And of course too many calories are to blame... your body isn't converting carbon and nitrogen out of the air into body mass. There are particulars involved in consuming said calories, and hiding additional calories in foods that didn't used to have them is a pretty damn telling indicator, particularly when the low-fat fad started and fats were replaced with carbs instead of proteins.

Typical OT…

“frick fatasses and their fatass eating habits!”

Hey, here’s a drug that can help the population develop healthier eating and exercise habits to potentially prevent or eliminate co-morbities associated with obesity.

Also the OT… “fricking lazy fat asses just need to eat less and not take the easy way out”

It’s incredible how many people are disgruntled over these drugs bettering people. I’ve been reading forums regarding GLP-1 drugs and the majority of the people losing big #’s are eating very healthy diets, restricting calories to 1800-2000, and exercising/resistance training regularly.

So not being a big fatass makes you less likely to have a heart attack? Who would have ever guessed.

I'll confess that I'm obese, but I do stay active overall. I did the nuclear stress test 6 months ago & the cardiologist said that I was at 98% capacity with blood flow which was so much better than everyone else with my weight.

I'm at least 100 pounds overweight, but I still fit in my airline seat when I travel. I'm starting to eat a lot better and play a lot of golf & starting to swim again. I've dropped 35 pounds since Memorial Day without medical help.

My doctor does want me to take Wegovy, but my insurance won't cover it. He's thinking about Mounjaro or Ozempic, but I'm not close to being diabetic, so that might be an issue. I would love to try the medical help, but I'm not spending $1000+ per month.

I was a high school coach for 35 years & still do it part time and my cardiologist says that's why I have good results for my size because I was active even though I'm overweight.

Agreed! It’s crazy how many people get their feelings hurt when they hear a success story from this.

Im sure this has been mentioned but the reason the drug seems so high and insurance isnt covered is because the doctor writing the script for weight loss is writing this outside of the insurance coverages realm of what this drug is supposed to be used for. This drug isnt new. This drug is written for type 2 diabetics on the regular. Cheap med if written for diabetes.

I’ve been in MJ since march… I’m down 19% of my body weight, drinking probably 1/4 of what I did prior to, and eating the cleanest I’ve eaten in 39 years. Its the first drug I’ve taken that makes it sustainable. I’m a very active fat arse but weight still wouldn’t come off unless I starved myself, MJ changed that. There’s way more to this than calories in-calories out.

Yes it is a diabetes drug. But we write for the medicine because of the side effect of weight lose.

It costs what it does bc it isn’t yet FDA approved for treating weight loss yet. But it’s coming.

This too isn’t too entirely true. I tried writing for Ozempic for one of my diabetic patients just yesterday and the insurance would cover it. They said he had to fail a long list of other medicines before they would approve ozempic.

It all depends on your insurance coverage… best thing to do is check your plans formulary and see what’s covered. You may be surprised.

That's a risk factor of rapid weight loss of any kind. I have no dog in this fight, and there may well be some unpleasant surprises that pop up. But I'm not sure you the meds are directly to blame for the gallbladder issue.

the assumption was he was saying carbs are the reason people are fat.

but the problem isnt carbs itself, its the calories and lack of proteins

He is saying the introduction of added sugars (= added calories) makes people fat. The only place he used the word carbs he specifically said "excess carbs". Because, in this case.... the calories do happen to come from sugar/carbs.

If he said "you can eat all the fat and protein you want but just don't touch any carbs" then maybe you'd have a point.

for someone to say "so your feelings mean shite" ironically it sounds like your feelings were hurt more than his.

Yeah you’re probably right I don’t know enough about it and isn’t my issue . Just noticing some trends with it .

no there isnt

but i am glad that MJ has helped you and super glad you decided to take it and its been life changing for you.

but just to clarify what you considered starving yourself...really was just putting yourself in a caloric deficit.

more than likely(cant confirm unless i was personally able to look at your previous bloodwork and compare until now) you were experiencing 2 things

1) insulin swings which caused extreme hunger pains
2) you had what is referred to as food noise. has to do with the dopamine receptors and constant feeling of needing food or certain foods

im not discounting your experience but there are dozens of studies that prove once protein is equated...its all about calories.

laws of thermodynamics still work.

whats even funnier is when we have the BMI threads and 90% of the people claim they arent obese despite being 50+ pounds overweight

they are the exact people this drug could help, yet they pearl clutch and say keep suck big pharma dick all while they are fat fricks themselves.
