Otters attack women floating on river, one sent to hospital

Just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, the women were floating a stretch of the Jefferson River near Lewis and Clark Caverns when they encountered some otters. The otters attacked, destroying an inner tube, and injured all three women before they were able to get out of the water.
One of the women was seriously injured and flown to the hospital in Bozeman with severe bites to her face and arms.

I would bet a significant amount of money that they intentionally approached the otters, to the point that they felt threatened.

I had no idea otters were ruthless until a family member who has a big pond on their property was telling us otters ravaged the fish in his pond and evidently they are hard to get rid of. You just have to wait until they eat everything they can eat.
