Yes, Teet's is still there. They actually built a new, larger store ("Super Teet's").
Ville Platte still has plenty of industry:
Cabot Chemicals
Cameron-Cooper Oil Tools
Cameron Iron Works
Union Tank (rail road tank car)
Jack Miller's BBQ Sauce
Pig Stand BBQ Sauce (restaurant closed though)
Slap Ya Mama Seasoning
National Guard Campus
Votech School
not to mention all of the smaller businesses and the nearby state park.
Not too bad for such a small town.

It was a serious question. I’m trying to understand. But sure, be a dickhead about it.

Born and raised in VP/Vidrine, left there in 2000 for school and never looked back. Seems like it started going downhill around that time.
Moved to Youngsville after college. Still have family there and it’s a complete shithole. It will continue to devolve. There’s no saving it, generations have moved on and have zero need to return.

If you were truly serious you’d know that MFN for China not only caused a loss of industry here but also allowed the Chinese to flood the US with cheap goods, which in turn allowed the expansion of larger corporate entities, putting smaller businesses (mom and pop) out of business.

Really sad what that town has become. I graduated in 2002 and it was nothing like this.
Nevemind Kafka answered my question.

We must be talking about about two different guys. The Wayne Dupre I know def retired from Frito Lay. He always parked his big truck on the street in front of his house.
