Only 3 months average negative returns in the market. Two of them are August & September.

I smell a pullback coming, could be a big one.

Market has been screaming higher and we have 2 of the 3 worst months for the market coming up back to back.

You're like a Kmart version of I Love Bama. Haven't seen him around in a while, though.

I'm still up on my MSFT & Dow Index shorts.
Down on my Nasdaq short.

Up overall.

To be fair the majority of the regular money board posters DCA index funds. So it is all noise

Guilty.

401K per pay period
HSA per pay period
Taxable account every week on auto
529 twice a month

The only thing I lump sum is IRA in January.

DCA life for me.

Wonder why?

I do see a pivot down at end of August and down for Sept just due to market history in that month also due to this crazy run up in the last few months. How we end the year is anyone's guess?

I noticed that on the 1st or 2nd of month when my salary deductions hit the IRA the share fund values are high, but then they would retract for the rest of the month. It hasn’t been that bad lately, but it always disturbed me that when the money was going in it was buying at overpriced values and would show a net loss for the month except for the new $$$ that was added. The crazy thing is my checking account is getting better returns than the IRA.

I know quite a few folks who, a year ago, 6 months ago, were calling for a major recession or even depression. Some folks moved entirely to cash/bonds. When do they get back in?

Despite Joe Biden, despite Trump's stimulus and spending, despite Ukraine, despite hard money Bitcoin, despite inflation....USD is killing it, economy is booming, domestic employment is up, stock market is up.

There is a bright future here in the USA for those who can admit it!

I mean, yeah, the most expected recession was supposed to happen already, but how do those people not realize the mistake of moving to cash and not buy back in? if they're active enough to be moving to cash, then surely they're active enough to see the stock market turn bullish early this year.

good luck with these plays. curious to know your price targets for these to hit and in what timeframes. I suspect you're going to get wrecked trying to short bullish indexes/stocks. there's too many dip buyers waiting on those names and you're going to face a lot of frustration as dips are bought and price trades sideways before a next leg up. volatility is suppressed and even if there is a spike in vol, it's quickly crushed as buying comes in. prime example: the trading days on Thursday and Friday.

maybe focus on actual bearish stocks if you want to go short in this market.

The market will have a correction at some point. I'd guess fairly soon but good luck to everyone trying to time it. I'll just stay invested.

Still close to fully invested but keeping about 15% cash if we get a nice pull back to get more shares of my favorite Companies. Still buying as well but usually on negative news for companies i own like healthcare sector with UNH, ELV a few weeks ago. Scooped a few shares of each and have recovered nicely since then. RTX is another example recently.

They don’t just stay on the sidelines until a recession happens. Once market trends move positive, they move back in. They were moving back in by May and continue to do so. Except JP Morgan and Jamie Dimon. They are content with continuing to be wrong and miss this massive rally.

Retail investors? No, retail investors wait until the coast is clear and buy in higher than when they sold out. There is a lot of data to support this happens all the time.

I flipped TQQQ over to SQQQ so this decline should reverse pretty quickly.
