My experience with "normies", is they are basically hopeless and will reject the red pill

At all costs
The only way to get them moved to your side is to move the overton window, which they love to reside in.
This is quite difficult to do, when the major institutions, entertainment industry, business world, athletes, and media outlets are all working for the other side.
The church used to be a check on all these institutions, and now either churches are ate up with leftist gobbledygook themselves, or completely silent on the culture.
Just a small example. I was at a wedding recently, and was in some casual conversation with some male family members, and some how the subject of the IRS and taxes came up (real exciting social conversation). When I suggested the IRS and federal income tax should basically be abolished, they all looked at me like I was crazy, and said "how would we fund the military". These were all generally center-right Republican men.
The normies are just not willing to except the institutions or standard bearers could be corrupted, I think for them to come to that conclusion, is a bridge too far because they probably know what that means, and they are way too complacent with their comfort to believe anything that would "seem beyond the pale".

Or perhaps they understand the stupid idea of abolishing the IRS entirely will not do what you think. The IRS has issues, but tax collection is a necessity for infrastructure.
You are as ignorant and naïve as the other extreme of people pushing for more entitlements.

This is the express purpose of the National Retail Sales Tax, which replaces the federal income tax structure to the penny. Retailers already act as tax collection entities for state and local sales tax.
Corporations do not pay corporate income taxes, they collect them. The NRST simply replaces the embedded federal income taxes which are passed down along each step of the supply chain, from manufacturer to wholesaler to distributor to retailer, and ultimately paid by the consumer.
In a NRST scenario, there is no need for the 22% embedded corporate income tax that is already baked into the price you pay at the register. Market forces will drive retail prices down to their rightful place, and the price paid at the register will effectively be the same as it was under the old IRS/income tax model. The major difference being that it's purchased with your whole paycheck, because withholding will have gone away due to obsolescence.

Send them here.

A perfectly normal reaction to a dumb idea.

Of course you would embrace a concept so onerous to the Founding Fathers it took a deceptive constitutional amendment to LEGALIZE the practice they expressly outlawed.

You do understand that the country functioned just fine until 1913 with no Income Tax, right? You do know that prior to Federal Withholding which was an emergency measure to fund WWII in 1944 and everyone agreed was Unconstitutional at the time but we "had to" do it Income Taxes were only paid by a small amount of people, right? Once they could get lemmings to buy into the idea of "Take home pay" and "Refunds" with their own money they won.
Why do the most successful states in the country have no State Income Tax? They also tend to run the biggest surpluses and have the largest Rainy Day Funds.
It's staggering how brainwashed and ignorant of facts and history people are. I really don't mean that as a personal slam on you because most people have no idea, they just assume the IRS has always been there and that it is the only way to fund the government through Income Taxes.
There is no other function of the Federal Government that takes away personal freedom and controls your life than Income Taxes. It is so pervasive people don't even realize most of it. It truly is the "Red Pill" and you are in the Matrix but don't realize it.

It’s scary that reportedly cognitively intact republicans can’t figure out how the federal government would generate income without the income tax. Most people are just dumb.

"Normies" are just regular people like you and me. Life is complicated and chastising folks is no way to get them to ponder your ideas. I understand what you're saying and I don’t disagree, but you'll get more flies with honey than with vinegar.
For example, instead of saying you would abolish the IRS, you should just present your replacement plan in a confident and pleasant manner. Once I learned this, I've actually had some good success with family and friends in changing the way they think about various political topics.

Trump hates it. In fact he attacked Ron for being for it.

Isn't that the same tax plan that DeSantis supported that Trump is now shiititng on for, claiming he wants to raise taxes by 23%?

The red pilled only see corruption because they can only believe themselves above all others.
Shows lack of humility and intelligence.

Do you trust the state?
And if you do, what is it about the state that has earned your trust?
Do you believe it is possible for the state to be corrupt?
Do you believe if the state was corrupt, you would be able to recognize the corruption and call it out?
Do you believe if the state was corrupt, there is a mechanism to reign it back in? And if so, what is or should that process be?

Very true. It's easy to get frustrated when people don't understand things and revert to insults or chastising people. It's honestly a problem DeSantis folks have to work on. A lot of Trump voters are pretty LIV but if you tell them they are LIV they get very upset because they feel insulted. Trump makes them feel smart and like he is on their side. A lot of DeSantis folks get frustrated and can't grasp why Trump voters don't understand things so they start insulting.
BTW, I differentiate in my Trump voters. There are obvious troll jobs that have no interest in real discussion and the more you try to speak with them in reasonable terms the more it looks like the Courtroom scene in Idiocracy. You have to make fun of them to make them shut up. Those are the minority though.

Does “red-pilled” translate to “brain-scrambled”? That’s what it sounds like.

How come you aren't capable of articulating a well reasoned need for the IRS without resorting to juvenile insults?
It's almost as if you haven't thought very deep about the things you believe in (or lack the capability) and will follow whatever order you are directed to follow from CNN

I don’t think I need to spend any time justifying the federal income tax and its enforcement agency. It’s that basic.

My BIL is in advertising and his client is a large auto maker.
He and his wife were talking about how it doesn’t make sense how US auto manufactures and the Government are pushing electric cars when the consumer doesn’t want them, and there is NO environmental benefit to electric.
They got to this point by themselves so I wanted to see if they could take the next step.
I pointed out our Government is pushing electric cars because China wants America to move to electric because China owns most of the World’s lithium. And China pays America politicians to push electric.
They were unable to take that step. In fact they said “That can’t be happening because that would be treason.”
