But when it translates to drive/series killing plays

That’s the point. It really didn’t. LSU was in the Top 10 in the country in gaining first downs. They sustained drives as well as anyone.

In fact, LSU was ranked 9th in the country and 2nd in the SEC behind only UGA with a 49% 3rd Down Conversion rate!

And that’s with apparently a “Drive Killing QB”!

Wait something doesn’t add up when that fact is put next to that opinion….

Think slowly about what you just said.

I’m not the one who said Kelly “allowed” Daniels to return. Was he supposed to “fire” him?

Exactly.

I don’t know why some either refuse to see this or accept it. The guy returns and some are still upset about it.

“Hey JD I think it’s best for both parties for you to do ahead and get started on your pro career”

That’s what I would’ve liked for CBK to say

that is a legit point. And as I said I think the two qbs are roughly equal in what they bring to the offense. And I have no problem with Daniels being the starter, it's close to a coin flip imo.

Also to consider however is that 1/5 of the snaps went to Nussmeyer so the efficiency stats are partially attributed to him. And his completions on average are 2 yards more than Daniels, which would support that. And his qb rating is higher, higher probably because he had only 1 sack even though a higher incompletion and interception rate.

And I still maintain that imo the coaching staff would want that sack number to change for Daniels. I think at one point the head coach even made the comment that he wants Daniels to have more confidence in attempting to pass.

They are both likely to be better this year, which will bode well for the Tigers.

I think he knows more about his own team than you do.

If the kid wants to stay and improve, why is that a bad thing?

You’d rather the head coach encourage a kid to leave for no reason. What message would that send to any of the other players?

His own team mates have said they support the the guy. I don't under why it has to be one or the other. Even Garrett supports him.

It's ok to support both.

What a terrible take.

Agreed on all counts both will be better. And you seem like a poster who can actually see the whole picture unlike the guy we’re all arguing with on the last few pages lol.
I Think Daniels will have a great year and Nuss will have a great 2024 and Hopefully 2025. The 2 points aren’t mutually exclusive.
That is of course if “the incompetent Brian Kelly” doesn’t welcome the returning starter back in 2025 to make way for new guys like the other poster suggested should have happened this year.

Pretty high praise! Hope he does win it! Unfortunately I'm a realist. He's listed at 9 or 10 by Sports Illustrated and most other publications. Don't care TBH. I just hope he matures and improves his field vision and downfield accuracy.

Even as the OP I agree with this and I don’t think anyone would disagree. I believe he’s capable and apparently the coaching staff feels that way as well or he wouldn’t be looked at as the starter going into 2023.

Anthony Hopkins as Charles Morse in the movie The Edge:

Charles Morse : We're all put to the test... but it never comes in the form or at the point we would prefer, does it?

Charles Morse : Today, I'm-a-gonna-kill the mutha fricka.

Charles Morse : What one man can do, another can do.

Charles Morse : You know, I once read an interesting book which said that, uh, most people lost in the wilds, they, they die of shame.

Stephen : What?

Charles Morse : Yeah, see, they die of shame. "What did I do wrong? How could I have gotten myself into this?" And so they sit there and they... die. Because they didn't do the one thing that would save their lives.

Robert Green : And what is that, Charles?

Charles Morse : Thinking.

I was excited about Howard but if he didn’t want to stay at LSU then bye. Kid is shorter than I expected and apparently not good enough to win out at a lesser school. QBs will come and go in the new world. Just keep recruiting.

Unless he tore his rotator cuff after HS, the kid has tremendous arm talent.

It worked out great that Daniels stayed and so did Nuss. It will help with the play calling that the coaches have confidence in Nuss and we won't have Daniels playing not to make a mistake.

I fully believe that Howard saw the handwriting on the wall. If he thought he was better than Nuss and maybe even Ricky Collins, he would have stayed knowing he would start in 24.

If Brian Kelly believed this he may have said it but he doesn’t believe that. He believes this team in 2023 is better with Daniels on it than not.

That was a wise decision. He plans to start at Ole Miss in 24. Some folks have the wisdom to plan their future.
He would not have been the starter here next season and he knew it.
Nuss keeps getting hype from folks who attend practice. He is apparently the next starter at LSU.

wait, you thought our fans were knowledgeable about football?

You don’t remember the 70% of our fans that couldn’t understand why some of us wanted Les Miles fired a year into his tenure and even though we just beat ULM 9 to 7, it was all due to Les secret genius strategy? Never mind the 8 fumbles, 10 delays of game after a called Timeout, we won the game and it was all part of his genius.

And and… “name who we can get that’s better”. The sane fans would state the obvious answer of “anyone” but we would get shouted down.
