Anybody seeing more big roaches inside the house lately?......

It's hot AF outside... them little bawstards just trying to stay cool

This was a major problem at my home in years past, with the heat driving the really big roaches, "tree roaches,' as we call them, inside the house.

We had our shed and the perimeter of the house treated for termites this past Spring and, knock on wood, we've seen not one roach indoors, this summer.

It's puzzling, but I'll take it.

When I bought my current house back in 92 it had been sitting empty for several months. It was also about 70 years old at the time and needed quite a few upgrades to bring it up to date.

After I moved in I noticed the large cockroaches running around and even more disturbing, the small "German Cockroaches" that inhabited the kitchen area. Those little bastards were everywhere.

I went to Barber Laboratories in N.O. and asked for their best pesticide treatment to get rid of them. I got some concentrate to mix in my pump sprayer and sprayed both inside and outside, boric acid powder to spray in tiny hard to reach places and a tube of an almost grease-like substance to apply to areas in the cabinets that went on like caulk.

Long story short, within a week or so the only roaches I saw were dead ones and within a couple weeks even they were nowhere to be seen. To this day I may see 2-3 roaches a year and all I do is use a perimeter spray once a year or so.

I used to have a few big tree roaches years ago.

I used cheap roach trap bait (Home Depot) and placed them in both corners of doors connecting to the outside. Works very well.

Now, i have a menagerie of 3-4 geckos that hunt around each entrance.
I am convinced the geckos keep outside roaches at bay

Told the wife they were just “palmetto bugs”, while in reality they were 2 inch long roaches.

Boric acid powder/pellets seems to be killing them.

We’ve been finding dead ones about every other day in the house

Bifen granules outside in your yard/garden with spreader. Talstar liquid sprayed around outside perimeter and under sinks/tubs. Do this every 3-4 months. About $150/year. Can get both on Amazon.
