…but not really, because they never do that. These guys just wanted to GTFO. Caught 6 out of 9 yesterday - first time on my creek in a couple months and they were plentiful.

As an outdoorsman and hunter, I’ve learned to respect and identify snakes. Many times you can smell areas where they are due to the musky stinky smell. Similar to smelling hogs before you see them. Appreciate you sharing your videos and pictures

We had an experience with one where I wouldn't say he chased us but he came straight to our headlight and we of course were there. My uncle, my cousin, father, and me and my brother were frogging one night in knee deep water wading. We had a Ruger 10/22 with us that wouldn't feed so it functioned as a single shot. We saw this snake about 10 feet away. He shot at it and missed and the snake came straight for his headlight. We were trying to quickly load the gun but was a massive fail and the snake went right to my uncle and he stomped it and held it under til the rest of us cleared out and he highstepped it out of there in hip boots. I'm sure it was the light but he did come to us.

One of my favorite stories is when my pawpaw and I were walking through the woods with our zebco combos and he didn't secure his hh spinner bait. We pushed through some brush and as I came out my pawpaw said "I'm hung up, can you help me out?"
I looked at this rod and reel and followed it up to a branch where I saw he had accidentally hooked a small cottonmouth.
Idk who was more scared, us or the snake. But, I learned how to pin their head down and pull a hook out of them that day.

I was playing golf on the northshore decades ago and hit a shot into the woods so I went in after it. I always had a long iron on me when I did that because it was near a swampy area and I saw cottonmouths there in the past. I got to where my ball was and noticed a non-venomous snake coming at me from my right. I also saw one heading towards me from the left and a third coming from straight ahead. All 3 were non-venomous but it freaked me out because it seemed coordinated and I wondered if there were others I didn’t see. I got my ball and left.

My palms get sweaty just watching this. How many times have you been popped?

Yes. Had a pair of 12 or 14” Dryshod but upgraded to 17” Irish Setters this year right before my Florida trip. We were after Eastern Diamondback rattlers (no luck) so I wanted a little extra protection.

Never by anything venomous.
Too many times to count by nonvenomous.
