The off-season is pretty much over from a roster standpoint.

Looks like our rotations will be very similar as last year barring injury.

Who do you see gaining/losing minutes? I like giving CJ additional rest with Jose healthy. I also see Zion’s minutes making the lack of bigs easier.

Hoping we see more confidence in Dyson’s game offensively and he gets 8-10 minutes.

If they stay relatively healthy, I see CJ, Herb, Trey, BI, Z, JV, Jose, and Nance are the only absolutes.

Everyone else's playing time will depend on injuries, needs/matchups, and how well they play when they get on the floor.

Agree with all of this.

If this is the roster on opening night, this team is gonna be in the lottery, Zion can't stay healthy, I hope he proves me wrong, we need a big who can actually defend, Jonas is good offensively, but is arse on defense, Hayes being let go sucks, not that he is good, but giving up on both of the guys we traded back for sucks, I actually miss Steven Adams, wish we would have never traded him, Zion needs to be traded for defensive big and shooter

I'll be shocked if DD doesn't end up getting at least 10 minutes per game (probably a tad more as the season rolls on)...the Pels have big plans for DD & they'll do whatever they have to...to give him every opportunity to improve his overall game this season.

Jose shouldn’t be playing over Daniels. A guy the front office drafted at #8.

Outside of Zion and Herb, none of our draft picks has ever been guaranteed playing time.

Not Hayes, not NAW, not Kira, not Trey, not Daniels, and now not Hawkins. Where they pick is irrelevant. They're going to have to supplant the players in front of them and force the coaches to put and keep them on the floor. Trey has done it. Now Daniels need to as well.

Dyson will get playing time as long as he stays healthy. I can see Jose getting 20-22 minutes as the backup PG, and Dyson getting the same amount of minutes as the backup 2/3.

Certainly possible but I'd be interested to see who gets bumped out of the rotation if both Jose & Dyson are getting 20+ minutes a night. Guys pretty locked in with projections plus the Jose/Dyson 20-22 minutes:

CJ 33
Herb 28
BI 36
Zion 34
Jonas 24
Trey 32
Jose 21
Dyson 21

That puts us at 229 minutes, so there's 11 minutes total left and we haven't allotted Nance minutes or Hawkins.

I really feel like Jose and Dyson might be in a battle for minutes that Dyson needs to eventually win.

They are similar players in a way. Defensive minded guards. But Dyson is a foot taller. Jose def can shot create for himself and teammates a bit better now. But if we want to be good, we need Dyson to take a step up and outplay Jose.

I don’t think those 2 will get 42 minutes combined. It will be more like 25-28 minutes.

I tend to agree. And certainly to max out how good we are, we need Dyson to prove he's just worlds better than Jose and should get nearly all of Jose's minutes. That is what needs to happen.

I'm not much into intangibles or whatever, but the energy Jose brings and also essentially makes the other 4 dudes on the court raise their intensity as well, and quite simply, we have a 2 year and quite large sample size of minutes, and when Jose is on the court we flat out win those minutes by a wide margin.

It's over 2000 minutes on a team that has lost more games than they've won and he has a +6.0 net rating, it's darn near impossible for that to just be a coincidence or him just playing with the best players since he doesn't as a role player.

My personal minutes rotation “regular season” for the beginning of the season.

CJ- 30 mins (I want him fresh all season. He had to do too much last year)
Ingram- 34 mins
Herb Jones- 30 mins
Zion- 30 mins (I’ll make a thread one day to elaborate more on Zion mins/back to back, health strategies.
Jonas- 25 Mins

Jose- 15 Mins
Dyson-15 Mins
Trey M- 35 mins. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, he should be on the floor a ton.
Nance- 20 Mins

The last 5 mins will go to either Zeller, Hawkins, Naji, EJ, or Kira depending on the matchup, fouls, game flow, health, etc

Or someone like Nance’s minutes could be bumped up.

Dyson doesn’t need offense to be effective, he just needs to protect the ball when he’s in there.

I reckon Jose would be more of a 10 minute guy unless we want to get cooked all year with he and CJ attempting to guard legit backcourts. At the end of the day the path to the conference will be decided by a guy like Dyson, not Alvarado. Unleash Dysonday 1 this season

I think with our injury history and a new training staff coming in we will scale back on minutes a little bit, especially on CJ and BI. My prediction:
PG: CJ 26 mins, Jose 22 mins

SG: Herb 28 mins, Dyson 15 mins, CJ 5 mins

SF: BI 26 mins, Trey 17 mins, Dyson 5 mins

PF: Zion 30 mins, Trey 12 mins, BI 6 mins

C: Jonas 24 mins, Nance 24 mins

That gives us a 9 man rotation, and Hawk, and Naji would get the spot minutes here and there, but at the end of the season I believe BI, Cj and Zion all end up right around the 30-32 minute mark rather than 34-36. Nance’s minutes i think will also end up right around 20 with Zeller getting 3-4 minutes a night.

Players will revolt having their minutes taken away. You are taking away potentionally 10+% of their minutes. Their production/stats will go down accordingly. You think Ingram's getting a max deal at 20ppg (vs. 24ppg).

Players talk about wanting to win. They want to show out and play max minutes to fatten their Stat lines. No player is voluntarily giving up playing time..

Blowouts are the only time CJ or BI will ever play 26 minutes in a game.
