Best places to stay in Boston?

We stayed for a long weekend last year (first time) and enjoyed North End (stayed at Hyatt near Faneuil Hall) and found it convinient to transit and walking.

Kinda looking for mid level as far as budget. Not looking to stay at anything ultra fancy, but not a dump either.

Stayed near the Wharf which was fantastic. Hotel was like 180 a night which wasn't bad

I much prefer short term rentals with kitchens anywhere from The Common, the North End, Harbor to Charles but closer to the center the better
