Ford Dealers Can’t Move All The Mustang Mach-Es They Have For Sale

Apparently people don't want EV's. I'd post a picture of a Mach E but you don't want to see that abomination.

The new hotness that was EVs has seemed to start cooling off. Models that once had buyers beating down the door of the dealership have now seen sales numbers slide and discounts rise, just as inventories for many models have started to climb. And while this isn’t something that’s specific to just one automaker, some automakers are worse off than others with some models. Take Ford: Business Insider reports that the automaker has Mustang Mach-Es piling up on dealer lots.
A quick new car search shows that there are over 9,000 brand new Ford Mustang Mach-Es for sale across the country. While that’s a good thing for prospective buyers who have been dealing with inventory shortages the last couple of years, that’s all changed now. Buyers aren’t showing up. Data from analytics firm Cloud Theory shows that in Q2, 2022 Mustang Mach-Es had turn rates — a fancy term that just means how quickly a vehicle goes from in the dealers inventory to being sold — within 30 days that sat at over 86 percent. By the same time in 2023, that number had dropped nearly 59 percent. This can be backed up by both dealer listings Ford sales stats as well.
Out of the 9,092 Mustang Mach-Es for sale across the country as of this writing, 61.5 percent (5,596) of those had been sitting for over 30 days. Mach-E sales were down 21 percent in Q2 of 2023 compared to the same time in 2022. But speaking to Insider, Ford’s head of U.S. sales analysis paints a more positive picture.

Didn't they have a similar issue with the Lightning as well?
ETA: Yup, sure did

Ford naming a shitball RAV4 knockoff after a mustang is the stupidest fricking thing since Bud Light made tranny cans

Well it is kind of a stupid looking vehicle.

Is it possible that people that wanted EVs already have them and they overestimated the demand?
Or they are just too expensive?
There is a reason.

I think Tesla is so far ahead in this space that Ford may as well not even try.

Yes. And too impractical.

I'm probably in the minority but I've always liked how these looked, especially compared to other brands SUV/Crossover EV offerings. Especially compared to the Model X.
I'm not buying any of them but I like the Ford styling.

I dont think automakers want to produce EVs
But EVs get their average MPG per vehicle produced up to meet ridiculous standards set by the feds so they can keep making trucks and SUVs that actually sell

The company I work for has one Mach E as a pool vehicle. They are pretty nice inside but this particular model only does tier 2 charging. Also, at max, it has a little over 200 miles in range. I'm sure newer models are better, but there is just nothing spectacular about them, say compared to a Tesla. That is a tough market right now.

Why can't they just make it look like a sleeker mustang instead of an anal plug? I don't get why companies make EVs look stupid.

People who love the Mustang, don’t want a car that you’d expect the back to be covered with “coexist” and various leftist themed political bumper stickers. I mean, just look at this abomination…
… the look is closer to Subaru than Mustang.

I think I may have seen two on the road since they started selling them.

The reason is the Mach-E itself versus just EVs. The Tesla Model Y was the best-selling car in the world in 2023 Q1. A first for an EV. It was also the 4th best-selling car in the US during Q1 behind the Big 3s trucks. The Model 3 was number 11 in the US and the only "car" that beat it was the Camry.

Yup, I like EV's and may get one eventually but I just want one that looks like a normal car. I think Rivian has the best looking ones out there right now.

Yep. Looks nothing like a stang.

Nobody wants a stupid looking hatchback "Mustang"? I'm shocked.
The dumbest move ever was calling this a Mustang. They could've released it as its own thing and maybe it would've been more successful. But calling it a Mustang is a disgrace.

Not any more hideous than a
Tesla Y.
They’re ridiculously fast.
I think Ford just hasn’t put enough emphasis on marketing it

if these electric shite cars were like 35k, it would be enticing to have as a daily city car/driver. But i'm not spending 60k plus on anything that i have zero confidence will be worth anything after 8-12 years.
