Saw this floating around Twitter and haven't seen it here yet.

quote:

The official number is probably an exaggeration because it includes some people who had virus when they died even though it was not the underlying cause of death. Other C.D.C. data suggests that almost one-third of official recent Covid deaths have fallen into this category. A study published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases came to similar conclusions.

With as much as they know about COVID now, they're still overstating deaths by as much as 33%. How badly were they overstating it during 2020?

NYT

Yesterday's conspiracy is today's news. Again.

Enough to bludgeon the gullible sheep with deadly fear porn that enabled democrats to openly circumvent state election laws to swing the 2020 election with unfettered, unverified mail in ballots.

They knew this three years ago and knowingly lied about it for political purposes.

The NYT is not honest journalism.

It’s a hack political propaganda organization.

I’ll be called a radical nut job but I don’t think anybody died from a thing called “Covid”. They recategorized flu deaths as “Covid” deaths. They made up numbers for money. The rapid tests were total bullshite but they used them to put a death down as “Covid” even if they clearly died of another cause - cancer, heart disease, diabetes, even fricking accidental deaths. There is a video of a state of Illinois medical spokesperson literally stating this out loud in a press conference in 2020. I believe this happened hundreds of thousands of times nationwide in every state.

Covid death definition 2020

Likely a heavy overstatement, but no more mean tweets

I had an elderly family member pass in the hospital in 2020. They tested her four times for covid and it was negative each time. When she finally passed they put covid as a cause of death because "she showed all the signs" and the tests "aren't always accurate". BS

OP, is NYT saying current or 2022-2023 COVID deaths are overstated by 33%? Or are they talking about 2020-2021?

If 2020 I would say a lot more than 33% were overstated.

ETA: Oh never mind...I see in your post it says "recent".

Who in fedgov is ultimately responsible for the CDC?
