Why make a Barbie movie for adults rather than for kids?

I hope it does well, but I put zero faith in the reviewers employed by publications who are in large part financed by the studios. These are all paid shills.

Ticket sales say, because people want it.

Because Barbie was popular back in the day. The true fans are all grown up.

I think you all underestimated the power shirtless Ryan Gosling has on women.

You don’t get why people on this board wouldn’t know shite about women?

Well, some folks on this board are outright upset that it’s apparently not made and marketed for them. But I’m going to digress.

As far as younger girls, there’s lots of Barbie content out there in shows and cartoons for them so it’s not like it’s taking away from properties for kids.

Greta Gerwig has strong, albeit limited, track record as filmmaker.

Despite being established IP, it looks quite an original concept, maybe even outright outrageous, without taking itself too seriously.

The two leads are about as attractive as it gets, well-known & popular, with multiple Oscar noms between the two, with quite a bit of range, at least from that dramatic and comedy spectrum.

And I actually became a little more interested tonight, because my 6 and 3 YO whatever reason, just randomly yell “JOHN CENA,” but hardly know who is or what he looks like. So I went to find what movies they have seen him in, and I saw he has a cameo as another Ken doll. The thought was amusing, and I’m more convinced it’s going to be lot of absurd humor, with people who are actually pretty good at the type of humor.

I’ll still see Oppenheimer first, and on a separate day but I’m kinda getting the Barbieheimer stuff.

There are some characters that are too poor for the full body spray on tan.

If you had told me 30 years ago that one day critics would be circle jerking "Barbie: The Movie", I'd have laughed you out of the room.

A bunch of liberal, elite, hollywood scum writers glowing about a doll movie made for kids. Of course they love this because they are all pedophiles

David Lee probably jacks off everyday holding the naked Ken doll in his other hand.

You could ask the same question about Batman movies.

Was pretty surprised for some reason when I read the Wikipedia plot. A no go for me.
