should be more then an incentive to get him an O-line to protect their investment........

I mean they’re trying, what else can they reasonably be expected to do with their OL?

That title should last a few months.
Happy for Burrow though!

I would think 3 year $153m … he’s not going long until the bengals invest in protection . Also looking at JC1 getting paid too … but my neighbor (sports agent) could be wrong

Buffalo BillsThe miracle is happening: Damar Hamlin returns to the practice field after almost dying in January
NFLNFL confirms 2026 Super Bowl LX host city: Where will it be?
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow could become the highest-paid player in NFL history. Burrow, the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner and LSU graduate, has become one of the top quarterbacks in the league. After missing his rookie season due to injury, he returned in 2021 to lead the Bengals to Super Bowl LVI, where they narrowly lost to the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 23-20.
In addition, Burrow is the only quarterback with a winning record against two-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes, defeating him in 3 out of the 4 times they have faced each other. As a result, the Bengals are already negotiating a lucrative contract that could make him the highest-paid player in history.

They just added an all pro tackle from the Chiefs, and have improved the line each year since Joe got there.
I don't know if you were one of the IDIOTS on the board screaming that they should have passed on Jamaar and drafted an ol instead or not, but they made the right choice. You can't manufacture the chemistry between those two. But you can steadily improve the pass protection yearly.

They have improved the line significantly since Joe's rookie year, especially with the signing of all pro tackle Orlando Brown for this season.

There wont be any cap left for an oline.
I fricking hate these qb contracts, unless the teams know something about the salary cap i dont… which to be fair is perfectly possible.
ETA: happy af for Joe, he deserves it. I just dont get how teams think they can be competitive with this much tied up in the qb. Does no one else remember whats happened to teams after huge qb contracts? The next few years are usually pretty brutal on the roster

If he's smart he'll go to an organization that can afford an above average offensive line.

Did you read anything above?

I thought he was supposed to be giving them a discount so they could spread the dough around to other players?

He hasn’t signed anything. All this is is an article saying joe is the next great qb that’s up for a contract

Do you not remember what happens to a team who has a bargain basement QB as a starter?

He can always renegotiate allowing him to have say in who gets the money
