Fried pitches in Gwinnett on Thursday. I expect him back after that.
What? He threw 30 pitches his last start in Rome. He’s still a few weeks away from being ready to start a game in the bigs.

If Fried remains healthy, he won’t throw more than two more minor league games.

I don’t know if he’s a troll, but he didn’t understand the framing of the discussion. As was stated earlier, this is all about what it takes to get Ohtani. I just don’t see the Braves in the hunt for him.

I think what the real topic was - what would it take to trade for Ohtani?
That makes a lot more sense.

Probably.

And that's not a trade AA would ever make. Cause we're not signing anyone to a $40mill _+ per year contract.
But even if we money were no object, it’s a stupid trade anyway because we have the best team in baseball and it makes us worse this year. And the only reason to even entertain it is if you KNOW Ohtani would definitely re-sign with us. And if we knew he wanted to be in Atlanta so bad that he’d agree to that before even playing for us, why not wait to sign him until after the season and keep all our guys?
That’s why I don’t think he’ll get moved. No team would give away the assets or would take to get him without knowing he’s sign with them. And if they know that, why not just wait a few months?

They are going to have get his pitch count over 65-70 in a MiLB game before he gets called back up.

At least. I’d rather see him throw 90 in Gwinnett. Maybe twice. We don’t need him in July or even the 1st part of August. We need him ready in late August/September and October. Rushing him back into a in nobody’s best interest.

Grissom had a good game in Gwinnett on Sunday with a grand slam for his first homer since May 9 and then he gunned down a dude at the plate on a relay.

Braves need to lottery protect their first rounders in any Ohtani deal IMO

Maybe once they let him go over 75, but I doubt they have him really exert himself in the minors to the point where he reaches 90. No way they waste that many of his bullets in a meaningless game, even if he is cruising.

I would take Soto and Kelly from the white Sox for Shuster and Grisson and then get a utility guy for peanuts from someone

A pitch in AAA is a pitch in the majors. We need Max now. Go sixty or so on Thursday and bring him up.

The donkey herd found a new member, congratulations.

McAuley-
New #Braves OF Forrest Wall, 27, slashed .258/.360/.399 (13.5 BB% and 21.6 K%) with 45 SB in 49 attempts for Triple-A Gwinnett.
A former 1st round pick by the Rockies in 2014 will be getting his first shot in the majors after 9 seasons for 4 organizations in the minors.

I could see Wall being our pinch runner for the post season.

MLB-
A club's 26-man roster is its full roster of active Major League players from Opening Day through Aug. 31, and during the postseason.
Teams are limited to carrying 13 pitchers during this time. From Sept. 1 through the end of the regular season, all clubs must carry 28 players, with a limit of 14 pitchers.
Players on the 26-man roster (or the Major League injured list) accrue Major League service time. All players on the 26-man roster must also be on the 40-man roster. Teams are required to have a minimum of 25 players on their 26-man roster.

I could definitely see AA having a trade deadline spree similar to 2019 (I think?) where he acquired 3-4 bullpen arms.
Yeah, our bullpen numbers are "fine", but I want shutdown options for the postseason.
We all like to post these outlandish trade deals for star bats and starting pitchers, but in the end AA has always gone for quantity at cheaper costs with educated guesses on guys that will thrive in our organization moreso than their previous teams.

Agree to disagree. It’s not even August. We’ll need him more in October.
