Yes they do. It's all they are called on TV. When LSU plays UL on ESPN in baseball the LSU announcers at the Box call them LOUISIANA, The Cajuns, or UL, They are not allowed to call them any other name despite what may be written on the scoreboard, and if it is different they won't show the scoreboard. It's all anyone outside of Louisiana, the state, knows.

As someone who had courses at both, the difference in faculty and caliber of student was on separate planets.
That is admittedly anecdotal, but as someone who in a previous career also had the opportunity to scratch a lot of things and peek behind curtains at every institution in the state, the difference is stark. LSU is unlimited potential; there are pockets of pretty dang good at other places but it will never scale or compete.
The other schools are leagues better at LSU on one front: messaging to people like state legislators.

You're talking about 20 years ago. UL has had LOUISIANA on their uniforms for that long. I guess the sun belt schools could still call them USL if they wanted, but that would be equally as dumb as 90% of the people on this site

Yes, of course. I meant for federally reported research numbers (ie NSF HERD data).
The law school’s research in areas like energy, subsurface, minerals etc will be critical in coming years on the CCUS discussion. Have a colleague working a project w folks there in cyber law and they’ve been singing praises.

I know people that graduated from that school that call it USL, and others that graduated after that call it ULL.
Even their own damn fanbase doesn't call them Louisiana...well, other than the ones that want to desperately be called that...
Most ULL alumni I know don't give two shits about what the "Louisiana" name.

And I’ll do you one better. Nobody outside of Lafayette gives a shite about Festival Internationale. I’m 40 and didn’t even hear of it until like 3 years ago

It’s amazing how bad some of the lafayette land brokers working in texas have been at times. I’ve had some exchanges with some awful lafayette attorneys and land groups in Texas. They come across the line and make mistakes all over the place.

None of the other 3 had issues branding and NLU was an extremely strong brand before the double change pissed off all the alumni
ULM has seemingly turned the corner and figured it out with a dope logo.
It would probably benefit ULL to move past the Louisiana thing so they can update their branding and logo which is currently the most clunky in the state
Additionally, OP I do not know what you expected from going on a ULL message board. Would be like expecting LSU fans to start saying their lesser then Aggie or something
