So they canceled today’s scheduled police interview and instead issued a statement - to keep her from making it worse by lying to the police even more. At least the lies she told today were not made directly to the police only her lawyer which is not a crime.
Her lawyer is desperately trying to cut a plea deal with the JEFFCO DA for a slap on the wrist before the Hoover PD goes in dry with an arrest for obstruction of justice, false statements to law enforcement, theft, etc.
They could cuff her and stuff her RIGHT NOW for those things.

Her parents are claiming they receiving "death threats" and want the police to not be involved

I don’t know Bama laws, but Jussie Smollett was charged & convicted on 5 of 6 counts of “disorderly conduct” which in Illinois are all (least serious) class 4 felonies that can still carry up to 3 years in prison for each.
Disorderly conduct would include 911 hoax/prank calls and false reporting to police. I don’t know that Carlee ever spoke to an officer but probably EMS and medical personnel, but I’m clueless if 911 personnel and medical personnel are included in regards to false reporting charges.
Jussie got 30 months and was ordered to pay back $120,000 to Chicago. He is currently out of prison while his appeal is ongoing.

The first police press conference indicated she told the the “story” the night she came home. Sorry should have responded to the other poster.

Last I read they refunded the 2 large donations ($25,000 & $20,000), but the large # of donors who gave much smaller amounts are not being refunded.
Supposedly donations below a certain amount are informed they may be used for rewards on other crimes if not used up. I can see that if no reward given out when solved or closed without the qualifying help, but for fraud like this with all the media attention it doesn’t seem right.

She spoke with police after returning home. The chief said as much. It was only once, but she evidently relayed her "story" during that conversation.

Still pretty amazing that Carlee probably let her parents go on the Today Show to lie for her to the entire country.
They were stupid to do that in the first place but what an amazingly crappy position to put your parents in. Just think about that. For 2 days they were in a living nightmare thinking she had been kidnapped and possibly murdered. Then she allows them to look like clowns to the entire country. Now they probably are helping her foot the bill for an attorney and Lord knows what costs may be coming. Daughter of the Year.

She’ll be lucky if it’s only a County level charge. The FBI was involved in her search. That could and should be Federal level charges.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this girl has had everything handed to her on a silver spoon, gotten everything she wanted and wasn’t held responsible for anything in her life.

It’s just a way to raise funds to pay for tips that result in arrests, finding missing people, etc.

I am totally in the "there's no way she did all this without help" camp, but the understanding of the 2nd phone being pinged appeared to be off after Chief Derzis gave his first press conference, providing the timeline of events.
According to the Chief, the other call made to 911 was from Carlee's mother. Chief said the sister-in-law called mom and then mom called 911. I just happened to come across this video with the full dispatch call overlaid on Google maps and even a short interview clip with the parents. Go to 4:30 in this video
According to the interview with the parents, they tried tracking Carlee using Life360 after hearing from the sister-in-law. It seems like the GPS was just a little off and it led them to the street on the other side of the tree line. The police asked dispatch where the call from the mother came from, and she replied. "right in that area, 400 yards away"
So, Carlee's family drove to where they thought Carlee's car was supposed to be by following Life360 coordinates, but the app info was slightly off. Once they arrived and did not see her or her car, they called police. 911 pinged mom's location and dispatch is heard saying they were sending units over to meet with them at Atkins Trim LN/BLVD
I still believe help had to have occurred somewhere else. There is no way she went two days in the woods on her own. I find it interesting in her initial police testimony she said the first thing she was made to do was climb a fence. There is in fact a wooden fence in the back of the houses along the tree line. I also find it interesting she brought up that there was a female involved in this who forced her into the back of a car. I think the brother's girlfriend is involved and the info about being put into a car by a female was cover in case any Ring footage surfaced of her getting into a car with a girl. Also, why did Carlee call her brother's girlfriend and not her own mother, and why did the girlfriend call mom and not call 911 right away? I really think the girlfriend played a part in this.

Here’s a re-post of a video that takes you through the woods (via dirt trails & concrete trails) exactly where Carlee parked & disappeared.
There’s not only a wooden fence but plenty of chain link fence with giant holes you can walk through into the neighborhood bordering the woods. There’s also a series of tunnels that can take you to the opposite side of the interstate in the direction of walking back to her mother’s house.

I agree that it's hard to believe she was alone all that time and no one helped her get to wherever she went for those two days. I suppose it's possible, but it's very hard to swallow.
I'm very curious as to what she told the attorney. I don't believe he would lie for her, but I wonder if he questioned her as to where she was all the time and how she accomplished this alone. He may not have.
If the brother's gf was in on this, I don't know how she lives with herself having made the parents worry so much knowing Carlee was safe all that time. That's the stickler in assuming the gf helped and then allowed it to go as far as it did. If she was involved, she could have put a stop to this saga quickly.

Yeah, they're panicking and not thinking rationally so they're manufacturing claims to hide their embarrassment after going on NBC and telling an obvious and outright lie to the entire country.
This timeline is a diamond mine.
