I had progressive in Baton Rouge, 2 cars not full coverage and it was $325+ month. Progressive decided to drop me on homeowners so I shopped everything and got Farm Bureau auto for $100 month cheaper per month and full coverage. Shop rates every year no matter what.

You live in LA? Do you have minimum coverage or something?

State Farm as well. Bundled with home owners.

USAA- was 230 per month 300/500/300 and 100 deductibles on new suv and 5 year old truck. Added 16 year old in 5 year old corolla and it went up 600 per month to 830. In BR.

BR as well. We just dumped Geico today to go back to USAA. We originally went to Geico bc they were cheaper than USAA 9 yrs ago. Our latest bill was $560/mo for 2 vehicles (2016 HRV and 2019 Silverado). USAA will be $460/month.
300k/500k
500 deductible on everything
I have 1 ticket from 3 yrs ago

Mine is less and I have National General. I pay about$205/mo for full coverage on two vehicles. They just went up on me this most recent renewal (July
General only allows $25k/$50k for bodily injury and $25k for property damage.
That’s the difference right there.
I’ve always carried $100k/$300k.

Farm Bureau is on deck.

My auto and homeowners both went up over 35-40% with zero claims, tickets, or accidents on either. Also noticed several snarky remarks (not necessarily this thread) from those who have clearly not received a renewal in the past 4-5 months.
It is unsustainable.
Baton Rouge area here.
There’s this thing out there called inflation. It can make premiums go up without even having filed claims or gotten tickets.
If that’s unsustainable, then life is unsustainable.

Also don’t forget your credit score is a big factor in insurance rates.
Make sure the FICO is as high as you can get it when getting new rates.

Over 800 here. Given how much I pay, hard for me to wrap my head around how folks with poor credit and sketchy jobs afford insurance. Usually those types have tickets and/or accidents too.
Then, assuming they have insurance, have to go out and afford groceries.
Wild times we live in.

Yep. I think I'm about to move the teenagers car to another insurer. USAA seems to have great rates for the primary account and below average for the kids.

That’s fricking stupid. I have a 2021 BMW X5M and 2022 F250 and I’m paying $372 a month in BR.

I switched to geico and pay under $100/month on a 22 vehicle.
But I also signed up for driveasy good driver program and i am a good driver and never pick up my phone while driving. This gives me a $309.37 discount on my premium.
Oh and id say every once in a while, shop around and switch.
I had geico like 10 years ago, switched to Allstate now im back at geico.

I just switch from Progressive.
Moved my 2003 Mustang GT Centennial Edition (Coupe) to Hagarty. It has only 13,800 miles and only comes out once in a while. Otherwise, stays garaged under a car cover.
I have a 2020 Mustang HPP, 2018 BMW 540i, 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum and a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and with a 17 year old boy and a 22 year old girl plus my wife and myself. Went with AARP The Hartford. Total for 12 months: $5624. It was going to be $8400 through Progressive, who, a year ago, were $6200 for a year.
Decided to shop my homeowners. Which would you do?
1. Current policy with Travelers is $5500 a year with a 1% deductible and I have been with them since 2004.
-or-
2. Farmers Insurance came in with a price of $3390 a year, but a 2% deductible on wind/hail/tropical cyclone damage. Other perils are only at 0.63% deductible.
