So you think the best young talent should stay in MLS? SCH is Landon Donovan, y'all.

What

Is that what you gathered from that

I’m saying the second tier American players who don’t go to Europe need to improve

I don’t think you can say this tournament doesn’t matter to us without shitting on MLS. Jesus, Long, Vazquez, Robinson, Yedlin, Sands, even Morris are all-star players in MLS.

Only Jesus and Morris in this list. Morris looked not great this tournament but was coming off injury and it showed.

I’m sure there was some young player who is with his MLS side that could have used the call up instead of him

At this point we are wasting our time

For the league to be good enough that the players can stay in it without stunting their growth. It’s pretty straightforward

This is asinine. Any player in the western hemisphere who stays in the western hemisphere stunts their growth. That includes the fricking World Cup champions. MLS will not rival EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, etc. but they can produce enough talent to send to those leagues that it makes our national team at least competitive with other large nations.

You think Julian Gressel and DeJaun Jones are second tier Americans?

Holy frick dude, throw in the towel. You're out of your depth big time here.

I can not believe the optimism in this thread following this same federation publicly distancing themselves with a manager they rehired 6 months later.

What has to happen for you baws to realize this entire organization is a shite show show with no direction, no leadership and made up of personalities that prioritize minimizing constant failure??

The point still stands

The standard of American player who stays a home is awful

If that trend keeps going the league isn’t going to do much better

You're right, we're probably not going to win all the Gold Cups we send our C-team to.

The horror.

You're not wrong but what would it take for an American to be considered "Top Flight" or is it all a travel issue?

Nobody believes our federation is well run. I also don’t believe this tournament really mattered. I also said that personally I would’ve preferred an all U-25 team. I don’t agree with calling in Gressel, Long, Roldan, etc but acting like this is some referendum on our talent is hilariously stupid

Because all of the good backups to our regular starters are set to begin preseason in Europe in hopes of earning a real role with those teams.

Someone has to fill out the roster for the Gold Cup.

Exactly. Everyone agreed the Gold Cup meant nothing, yet still start crying when we lose. It's hilarious. Stop being bitches.

Join UEFA and be a part of champions league.

I guess this is anti-American exceptionalism, especially since we're so used to our sports leagues being the best, but MLS will never be a top tier league. And contrary to SCH's constant PMS'ing about that, we don't need it to in order to be a good country in the international game. We just need our youth development to be good, and we're getting there at a pretty good rate.

The point doesn’t matter because you’re acting like these guys are our second best options when the best striker we had at the tournament is our 4th best striker in the pool.

Any professional player currently playing in MLS is a third tier USMNT player according to you and Hendo.

So I don’t get your point here.

American player or American team? MLS teams will never reach top flight status, but they can get reputations for player development. There’s a reason why European teams are always sniffing around FC Dallas.

The point is that anyone whining that this Gold Cup loss with a bunch of third-tier guys is some data point as to why the US sucks at soccer, is an idiot.

For the league to improve to be a top league. The domestic talent has to improve. Those second level guys who stay home suck. It has to get better but it isn’t.

Our players need to go to Europe
Our players need to stay home and make MLS better

Make up your fricking mind
